Glitter Dr Martens

I'm 46, and I have foot problems, meaning the range of shoes I can wear is very limited. My podiatrist has recommended Docs, which I hadn't worn since I was a student, but which seem to be doing the job at helping my feet and fit the special insoles I've got. So far I've just got plain black ones.

I'm hesitating though, because I'm very not glitzy and I don't really dress up much. I know I can't really wear glitter boots to work, but I think maybe they'd be acceptable outside work, especially in summer. I'm conscious my black ones will look pretty heavy and clumpy in summer.

Second reason I'm hesitating is that I'm not sure how well the glitter will wear. Has anyone got these or know anyone with them, and knows whether all the glitter rubs off within a couple of wears, or how it reacts to rain? I'm not planning to wear them out hillwalking in torrential downpours, but it's the UK, so they're bound to get wet...

My DD has had a few pairs of glittery ones (I have some pink ones with sequined hearts so I'm not saying it's a kids thing!) and the glitter is generally hard wearing. Hers has come off a little on the top of the toe but that's because she's a total scuffer!

I got some glitter teal coloured as 40th birthday present and I love them! Hard wearing? I'm not sure yet but boy they are worth it. Everyone comments on them and I feel quite....young at heart in them. I say go for it. Why not you only live once!!

Thanks both. I think I'll have to go for it. There are so few shoes I can wear now, and they're mostly massively frumpy, so sod it, I need to embrace the glitter docs.

I would try then on first. I got some and they rubbed me raw, as they're not leather they are a stiff fabric that does not soften and wear like leather does.

You can sandals that are dm's and canvas dm's too.

Thanks. I need strong ankle support, so stiff doesn't sound too awful. I've seen their sandals, but they look so ugly I would rather be hot in the boots - plus I imagine I couldn't easily wear my insoles.

friend of mine with foot and back problems turned up to a black tie dinner in a full length green gown and sliver glittery Docs. She looked fab!!

If you’re blessed with small feet then the Docs teen range goes up to a size five. They seem to be made of a much softer material and are also half the price. The glitter ones are coated and seem to wear well.

Just checked and they actually go up to a 5.5. Not many on their site, but I saw some fab rainbow ones the other day. Think it was in Schuh.

No, sadly I'm a 6 in Docs! I had spotted the kids range, but they're too small. :(

They are fab OP. I've never worn docs as I'm dumpy at the best of times, but did wear rose gold glitter converse on my wedding Day!

Oh I'm very dumpy too! But I don't have much choice with shoes now, so Docs it is, or I limp for ever and end up not walking. Sod it, might as well have glitter as anything else.
