Walking around my town yesterday I saw lots of women in lovely summer dresses. I am sick of looking scruff in jeans and T shirts.

Share with me your beautiful summer dresses (not too expensive) that you have bought or you are coveting.

I’ve recently bought a few in this style. So comfortable to wear and I love the bright colours.

Again, not beautiful but very wearable, and good if you, like me, want a sleeve.

Love that dress, margarita

StCharlotte · 29/05/2019 13:13

Bloody Joe browns!

I love the pale blue polka dot dress a PP posted but why do they have to over-design everything? Why does everything have to have some feature hem or a random frill or a useless pocket stuck on.

Am I the only one who wants Coco Chanel to whip "Joe Brown" with one of her handbag chains?

dontcallmelen · 29/05/2019 16:14

@ChickyDuck I was just looking at that on the website, how is the sizing as I haven’t ordered from other stories before, I really liked it as it’s cotton & a bit different, thanks.

ChickyDuck · 29/05/2019 16:31

@dontcallmelen I find it pretty true to size. I'm a 10 on top, and 12-14 on the bottom and I got a 38 which fits beautifully

poppym12 · 29/05/2019 17:28

I've bought this one :

It's cotton and lined. I've never bought this brand before as I presumed I was too fat and old but it looks nice on me anyway. Bought it for daytimes when away and hopefully it will get an outing during our warm, dry British summer.

I am an optimist.

Thank you Chicky I’m going to give it a go👍🏼

I got this in M&S last week. It is nicer on than on the model in the photo. Much redder and a swooshier skirt. Also, it works fine when pulled up over the shoulders ( I didn't realize it was meant to be worn off the shoulder until I saw this photo).

I was away from home for work, it was much warmer than expected and I had about 30 minutes to find something. I love this dress. I will be wearing it a lot in the summer.

Stcharlotte I know exactly what you mean about Joe Brown's. They do so many things I might like if they took three things off.

NasiGoreng · 31/05/2019 14:15

Hmm, really like those dresses Sonja and Buffy. The others are lovely too, but I am a bit long in the tooth for a skater dress.

I've been looking for a linen dress or all in one/ culottes like the Next dress. I tried a gorgeous one on the other day in a Ted Baker Outlet. It was gorgeous. But at 5ft3" with big wanglers the top was too tight and the legs too long.I'm quite small and curvy with is good naked Wink but a shopping nightmare.

Think I might buy the uniqlo one.

AskMeHow · 31/05/2019 15:26

Nice shirt dress. I sized down slightly and it fits perfectly.

How do you buy these? Do you order online and return if necessary? I don't have time to go into town plus I always end up buying a bargain, feeling great and then paying £25 parking!!

I like the look of the JCrew one but the reviews suggest you need to size up - can you confirm that you actually sized down, Askmehow?

sonjadog · 31/05/2019 16:28

I buy lots of stuff online and return what I don´t use. Just in case you do decide to try out the M&S one, I had to go down about a couple of sizes in it. It was far too large in my normal size.

tierraJ · 31/05/2019 18:32

I just bought this dress by F&F at Tesco with 20% off so £14.

It's a beach dress but I may wear it in the evening on holiday with some embellished flat sandals from Accessorize.

It's actually nice material & has straps you can alter. Really pleased!

@dontcallmelen I love that dress as well its beautiful isnt it!? May also have to order it!

dontcallmelen · 31/05/2019 19:45

Cake just waiting on mine, will let you know what I think.

@Djangor3725

Yeah I was a bit confused by that myself. I've never bought anything from j crew before and I'm in the middle of some weight loss. I'm sure I read a review or two saying it was slightly big. Anyway I risked what I thought was a size down and it fits perfectly.

Anyway, the back is slightly elasticated so there's a bit of give.

AskMeHow · 01/06/2019 22:31

On second thoughts, maybe I got confused with US sizes. Their 10 is equivalent to our 12 isn't it? So I did buy my normal size, I think.

Meandyouandyouandme · 01/06/2019 22:39

I’ve just bought this one from ASOS, very flattering on, will probably wear with sandals though!
