Grey hair - WWYD?

I have been dying my hair at hone for 20 years. About 6 weeks ago I had dye + balayage done at a salon. Very happy with colour but £££

You can see the regrow in the pics but there is SO much grey now.

I am wondering if I should let the roots grow more and then pixie cut out the dyed hair and grow out (my face is too fat for a pixie long term)

Or should I keep dyeing? I am 40 if that matters

If keep dyeing how often do people have roots done at a salon?

If you wanted to keep it long and grow out the grey, could you have some light highlights to blend in the root growth?

Nothing worse than old lady grey hair, you’re too young

She wouldn't have old lady grey hair, she'd have 40 year old woman grey hair.

I'd go for the pixie/grow out. Think of all the time and money you'll save. If you really hate it, you can always dye it again.
Not rising to the 'old lady' comments above...

Thanks all.

Gah it’s hard as I like the idea of having a glamorous long silver bob but it a) would take ages to grow out and b) would probably just look ageing ...

But then a big part of me would love to stop the rigmarole of dyeing it every few weeks only for it to grow out so quickly. Maybe constantly having Roots looks more ageing...

Not exactly what you are asking, but I went platinum blonde. Instead of my roots looking grey, they just look dark now and blend in much more with the cool silver grey of my hair. Still have the upkeep, but I leave my roots up to 10 weeks now instead of needing them done at 5-6 weeks.

Depends how much time and money you have to spend, and what your views are on health risks of hair dye is.

I don’t dye as don’t want to spend the time or money, and have skin that reacts to chemicals, and dislike the harsh chemicals in dye, but almost everyone I know dyes so I do feel self conscious.

I am allergic to hair dye. All of them. Was paying £££££ for highlights to try and blend the grey but it wasn't enough so I stopped everything. I have very dark hair with a lot of grey but because of the way it happened it's not a band of grey at the roots. It is so liberating to not have to dye it anymore and it looks as if I have silver highlights. I get a lot of compliments on it. It certainly isn't 'old lady grey hair'.

I'm 40.
