Generally speaking do you feel naked without makeup on? And what does your typical makeup face consist of? Mine is a matte Mac lipstick and mascara, increasingly a good Nars highlighter.

I don't tend to go for a full on face but without lipstick and mascara I do sort of feel naked iyswim.

I wore makeup every day. Then I had a baby and I was too tired and depressed to apply it. And I discovered that nobody gave a shit. People treated me exactly the same without makeup. I guess I was deluding myself in thinking it made a difference. I’m ugly but so what - makeup isn’t going to fix that so why bother?

FizzyPink · 25/05/2019 22:57

In the summer or if I’ve fake tanned I feel much more comfortable not wearing foundation but that’s very rare. I would only go to work without make up if there was a big evening event and I didn’t want to redo make up in the afternoon but then I would be tanned anyway.
Everyday look is very basic - foundation, concealer, blusher, highlighter, mascara, lipstick (eyebrows are tattooed) but if I was going out I would top them up and also do my eyes

ExpletiveDelighted · 25/05/2019 23:01

I do my brows as they are very sparse and I have dark hair so it's noticeable, but often go weeks without wearing any other make-up. I like it when I do use it and have quite a collection, but feel just as good without it.

OhDiddums · 25/05/2019 23:15

I hate to be seen outside without make up. Day to day is foundation, powder, blusher, highlighter, eyebrow pencil, mascara and eyeliner. This is actually toned down compared to how much I used to wear. I sparlingly apply everything so tend to look fairly natural, although you'd definitely notice if I didn't wear it.

loubieloulou · 25/05/2019 23:15

If I'm pottering about at home or just nipping out to the supermarket I will go au natural except for eyebrow pencil - I have good eyebrows but I find that a little brow pencil really takes the edge off no make up.

For work & anything outside of pottering about home & supermarkets I wear primer, foundation, eyebrow pencil, eyeliner, mascara, blusher, highlighter & powder.

Foundation is minimal now, I've done 4 deep TCA peels myself & I use glycolic acid cream regularly & that's transformed my skin, before I started them products I would cake on the foundation, now I like natural looking face with skin showing through.

I've just discovered highlighter, wow, can't believe all these years I've been wearing make up I've not bothered with it before, it really does look lovely & brings my face alive.

loubieloulou · 25/05/2019 23:31

In response to your question OP no I don't feel naked without makeup. I am comfortable with spending all evening/full days with DP with no makeup on,

WanderingTrolley1 · 25/05/2019 23:32

Yes. Absolutely.

patchisagoodpup · 25/05/2019 23:38

I feel naked without it. I have uneven skin tone and just look a bit ill without it. I also feel unfinished and scruffy (but that's just me, not saying women who don't wear it look that way! It's a bit of a sensory thing for me). Daily I wear foundation & powder, highlighter, blusher and eyebrow pencil. I wear mascara when I can be bothered and for work.

MrsCatnip · 25/05/2019 23:40

I wouldn't leave the house without makeup to be honest, unless it was an emergency. I don't wear loads: concealer and powder to even up my skin tone and dark circles, a little bit of shimmer on my eyelids, mascara, and quite a bit of eyeliner. Feel MUCH more attractive with my face on, and because I wear it most of the time, I think I look washed out, tired and blotchy whenever I catch myself in a mirror not wearing any. I wear it at home too - the only time I probably wouldn't, would be if I was laid up ill in bed.

Fatted · 25/05/2019 23:41

Nah. I can quite happily leave the house without wearing any. I rarely wear it on the weekend or days I'm off work. Mainly because I can't be arsed. But also because I think it's better for my skin to be able to breathe.

I do always wear it to work. It's a bit like my uniform. I've got to look smart and make up is part of that.

I do feel sorry for people who can't even nip out to the spar for some milk without a face full of make up on. Because I assume it probably comes from insecurities.

Aspieteach · 25/05/2019 23:41

I wore makeup in my teens and 20s but have rarely used it since then. It's probably at least 20 years since I've used any. If I tried putting makeup on now I think I'd probably feel very self conscious and uncomfortable.

I do feel naked without it. I wear it every day for work and most days at the weekend, unless I’m not going anywhere.

I hate how I look without it Blush

BusterGonad · 26/05/2019 06:29

I feel more like me with make up on but I spend more time without it, e.g. I'll wear make up if I'm going out to meet a friend, or for my sons parents evening but on a daily basis school run, supermarket I don't bother. I also no longer take any when I go traveling as I never wear it.
I do love make up and buy loads of it. I love to look at it, play around with it, try different looks with it and read reviews on it. It's a really big hobby of mine.
Skin care is totally different, I always do my skin care routine. And I've always got painted toe nails as I live in a hot country so sandals are worn very often.
So No I don't feel naked without it but I feel more like me when I'm wearing it.

Rooftree · 26/05/2019 06:58

fatted no need to feel sorry for me thanks so much. So patronising! I’m not insecure, I just like how make up makes me look. My skin isn’t great so why shouldn’t I make it look better if I choose? I always choose to wear nice clothes when I go out too and do my hair, that doesn’t make me insecure either.

Monkeytapper · 26/05/2019 07:04

Yes I feel I looked tired and a bit piggy eyed without eye makeup so had my eye liner tattooed a couple of years ago. Love it and saves time in the morning. Will gradually fade so plan to have it topped up again in a year or so.

More of a general Q: Do you feel naked without make-up?
Shutuptodd · 26/05/2019 07:05

Apart from a goth stage as a teenager I have never worn it and dont even own any. I think I would feel weird wearing it.

StarlightLady · 26/05/2019 07:20

I like to have mascara and lipstick on when l go out. I’m a 40 something skirt wearing feminist, it’s not about doing it for men.

Feeling naked? Come to think of it, I prefer to have mascara and lipstick on when someone sees me naked too.

Acis · 26/05/2019 07:28

Nope.

ElspethFlashman · 26/05/2019 07:40

I don't feel naked and don't feel the need to wear it on days off work.

YET.... post 40 I'm aware it helps in a way it never has before. It takes years off a tired face. I have tinted moisturiser that I'm increasingly drawn to on days off. Just to take the blotchiness and dark circles away.

TapasForTwo · 26/05/2019 07:51

I wear foundation, blusher and lipstick to work and when going out. On other days none at all.

LoafofSellotape · 26/05/2019 09:19

It's just part of getting dressed to me and takes about 3 minutes. My skin is better when protected by foundation so I always wear it plus mascara and touch of eye primer and lipstick. I always wear earrings ,bravely and rings too,I'd feel naked without them too.

LoafofSellotape · 26/05/2019 09:20

**bracelet not bravely!

TapasForTwo · 26/05/2019 09:20

I have dark eye lashes, wrinkled eye lids and wear glasses, so don't bother with eye make-up.

shitpark · 26/05/2019 09:31

Yes I do. But then I like to look as though I'm not wearing any. Madness
