Favourite Jo Malone Fragrance Combinations

Housewife2010 · 25/05/2019 10:52

As many of us have succumbed to the latest Jo Malone offer, I wondered what your favourite JM fragrance combinations are? There's a chart on the JM site with some suggestions. My favourite is Red Roses with Wood Sage & Sea Salt. The Red Roses is gorgeous and is an unusually long lasting scent for JM. The WS & Sea Salt makes it fresher and they are gorgeous together. I'm trying out Dark Gingerlily & Amber with Grapefruit today.

Nectarine blossom and wildbluebell and orange blossom and ws&ss. The orange blossom turns very fresh and zingy and goes to a whole new level with ws&ss

Housewife2010 · 25/05/2019 11:41

I have Orange Blossom coming in my second order. I'll have to try it with the WS & Seasalt.

I've never combined, how do you know what works? Is it just trial and error?

Housewife2010 · 25/05/2019 11:51

There are some suggestions here,m.jomalone.co.uk/products/3805/fragrance-combiningtm?gclsrc=aw.ds&#&gclid=Cj0KCQjwz6PnBRCPARIsANOtCw3Npnehei3g6H2VMhMN3dYrfg_yKhTxEybaVs0R_qh4eoimU1iV_RYaAhqdEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds, but after that it's trial and error. I've never seen my favourite Red Roses and Wood Sage mentioned so I thought it would be handy if we could share our favourites.

Lazy Lizzy pretty much trial and error but I think the consensus in the JM community is that ws&ss pairs well with pretty much anything. I changes orange blossom completely and for the better. Wild bluebell pairs very well too. I never pair anything with mimosa and cardamom or the intense range though. I think they do better on their own

Landfilly · 25/05/2019 11:58

I have
Wood Sage and Sea Salt
Pomegranate Noir
Blackberry and Bay
Lime Basil Mandarin

I've never mixed them. I wonder if WS&SS would go with Blackberry & Bay?

cloud1183 · 25/05/2019 12:05

Landfilly- it goes with nearly everything and is very fresh with LB&M. I would wear PN on its own though

LazyLizzy · 25/05/2019 12:12

I've got Blackberry & Bay, Basil & Neroli, Orange Blossom. Waiting on Grapefruit delivery.
Will have a go, I just love the actual scents individually so never thought about mixing.

JustSomebodie · 25/05/2019 12:19

It’s a bit of a swizz to get you to buy two perfumes when one should do. The JM fragrances don’t last.

cloud1183 · 25/05/2019 12:22

Justsomebodie...it is a swizz as it’s a guaranteed way to get loads of people to have a splurge and they get rid of some excess stock. The scents need reapplying after a few hours on skin but I also have one spray on clothes and that lingers forever

Housewife2010 · 25/05/2019 13:21

I don't think it's a swizz. Each scent is complete in itself but IMO it's a bonus if I can combine them. If I've already got two JM scents and can make a third scent out of them then I'm very happy.

JMs layer well because they're so bland and linear.
I am wearing Superdrug Lime Basil and Mandarin layered with Perfume Parlour Wood sage and sea salt.
Two bottles for £8. Wouldn't dream of giving £££££££s for 80% water and a nice box. They are the biggest Emperor's New clothes scents on the market and the whole layering thing is indeed a ploy to make us feel inadequately Maloned unless we are wearing 2.

TheCanterburyWhales · 25/05/2019 13:23

The swizz is how much you are paying for water and a box tbf.

cloud1183 · 25/05/2019 13:31

TheCanterburyWhales...I tried PP LBM and also the superdrug one and liked neither. The original is by far the best. PP WS&SS and Pomegranate Noir are great though but my favourite Jo Malone’s Blackberry and Bay and Wild Bluebell have no good replicas

Housewife2010 · 25/05/2019 13:39

Surely it depends on what you choose to spend your money on. This thread was for existing JM wearers to recommend their favourite combinations. We don't need to be told that we're fools for buying an expensive scent. If we enjoy it, can afford it and it gives us pleasure then why shouldn't we? I drive a 15 year old car, don't bother with Sky, Netflix or takeaways. I don't smoke and drink rarely. My indulgences are gorgeous beauty products. We all have different priorities.

English Pear & Freesia & Pomegranate Noir. I used the pear & freesia body lotion & PN spray. It was recommended to me at JM counter!

Northumberlandlass · 25/05/2019 13:42

It was suggested I mix them years ago!

Veterinari · 25/05/2019 14:01

I can’t find the WS&SS on perfume parkour Sad
Can anyone link to a good dupe?

cloud1183 · 25/05/2019 14:13

It used to be called woody sages on pp.Its a really good dupe

toycar · 25/05/2019 14:59

i tried the superdrug ones and literally threw them away. yes its hideously expensive water and clever marketing but the super drug ones smell like washing up detergent - at least the JM ones smell well rounded and nice. you're buying a lifestyle/experience etc.

LadyRenoir · 25/05/2019 22:37

I love their limited editions. I actually sometimes mix them with other scents altogether. I really like Lupin and Patchouli with a touch of something sweet, and Pomegranate Noir is perfection to me so I funny mic it with anything. Black Vetiver Cafe works nicely with Lime Basil & Mandarin.

LadyRenoir · 25/05/2019 22:38

@Don't bother with perfume parlour, they are really crap. Have a look around on eBay, you can get used bottles for very good prices.

buckeejit · 25/05/2019 22:41

Is there any good combos for Amber & gingerlily to mix with? I have loads of it & don't like it. Also, how many sprays is acceptable before you smell a bit much?!

Robinthecaveman · 26/05/2019 10:15

buckeejit I asked about combos for dark amber and Gingerlily in my local store and in a concession where my family live in Germany. One suggested wild bluebell and the other suggested Davana and honeysuckle. I thought both really worked well. One also suggested pomegranate noir but I didn’t like it at all. I got the wild bluebell as a gift this time round and forked out for a Honeysuckle and Davana towards my £70 so I’ll have both the combos I like 👍🏻. I also like the H&D and wild bluebell on their own. For me the combining is like getting an extra scent 3 for the price of 2.

And really when you question the value for money for many things you’re being ripped off - £2.75 for a sandwich, £20 to hit a small ball around a field with a club, £4 for a glass of wine etc etc. You wouldn’t go anywhere other than work/school/for a walk if you had to consider the true value of everything you bought or did.

buckeejit · 27/05/2019 08:57

Thanks Robin!
