Please tell me your night time face cleansing routines?

Also, how do you do wash your face at the sink without getting water everywhere?

Acid toner was what made the biggest visible difference to my skin.

I've been doing an experiment over the last few weeks...all other things being equal, I've used ANR on one side of my face, and Superdrug Pure serum on the other.

Guess which side looks more plumped and feels softer?

Sigh81 · 27/05/2019 21:21

Chucked a lot of money at a Harley St dermatologist to sort out my horrible acne prone skin. Now have perfect skin which, like PP, still surprises me.

Night-time: LRP hydrating face wash, eye cream, prescription retinoid (wait 20 mins) Obagi hydrating moisturiser.

Lamentations · 28/05/2019 08:02

churchthecat I feel smoother for acid toning and I think my skin soaks in my serum and moisturiser better because of it.

CanterburyWhales don't keep us hanging. I've a horrible feeling you're going to say the Superdrug is better when I've just spent 2 years worth of Boots points on a bottle of ANR...

Gottoloveabagel · 28/05/2019 08:44

Interesting what people say about spf. When I went on holiday to Australia I used a body shop moisturiser with 50spf and didn't burn once.

TheCanterburyWhales · 28/05/2019 09:15

Lamentations-'fraid so. Grin

I tried the Superdrug about 2-3 years ago when it first came out and everyone on here was raving about it (my bathroom cabinet is a chronological testimony to S&B threads Confused) and I liked it. A lot. I stockpiled it when in the UK.

Then it kind of slipped off my radar and a couple of bottles languished in my cupboard.

I already had the ANR dupe- (Misscha borabit ampoule Korean thingy) and hadn't thought much of it, then, after reading again about ANR's cult status, and HG reviews etc, I did what you did and thought, g'wan. I'll give it a go. Been using it about 7 weeks- no noticeable difference anywhere. My skin isn't bad for a 53 year old, but y'know.

So last week while cleaning out the cupboard, I thought I'd use up all the half bottles of serums etc, and started with the Pure. That side of my face feels plumper, smoother and I keep touching it and going "oooooh" Grin It also doesn't make other products pill unlike ANR

I've just been looking around the chemists and beauty shops again (silly me) and I'm tempted by the Bioderma products, in particular the H2O water, the DS+ creme for flaky sore eczema prone skin and the eye gel! Why oh why did I look? I really feel like I need these products to complete my skin care regime! BlushGrin

I use a cleanser, at the moment an nspa balm which is fine but a bit perfumed, more often a plain unperfumed cleansing cream, take it off with a flannel then rinse well and pay dry with a clean towel. Then either:

Do nothing, or

Spray with ‘hydrating toner’ - actually Boots Rose and Glycerin decanted into a spray bottle -

and/or

Moisturise with something fairly plainish. At the moment I’m using Neutrogena hydrogel, which is meant to be a body balm, but the ingredients seem to agree with my face although I don’t like the scent much. I also like their ‘deep comfort balm’ which is similar but the hydrogel one is a bit lighter.

Then sometimes use something else on top, such as Cetaphil, or maybe on any dry or troublesome bits.

Glycolic acid was great for my skin in the short term, but I think I’ve had more sun damage since. I use SPF but I’m sweaty, so I don’t think I always get the best coverage. I’m thinking of adding it back in once a week or so. The Nip+Fab pads are handy.

I also am cautious with retinol, but I’ve been using it on my chin, where I have a tendency to get a spot every couple of months, and the skin turnover is much better. I use the Ordinary weakest one.

Really interested to read about the Lush Ultrabland challenge. I used to be a Dr Hauschka devotee and they always said to cleanse but not moisturise at night. It made a big difference. If you use the right products your skin doesn’t get that dry, thirsty feeling. Before that, I don’t think my skin knew what it wanted and it always felt desperate for moisturiser after washing/cleansing.

*Aquaphor on any dry or troublesome bits

BusterGonad · 29/05/2019 13:39

Today I bought he Bioderma H2O water and it's amazing! It literally took all my eye make up off in one swipe. I held the pad on my eyes for a few seconds, patted it and then removed. AMAZING! I don't wear water proof mascara but I've no doubt it would be great for that too!

PizzaForPusheen · 29/05/2019 17:34

Evolue Cream Cream taken off with Ere Perez Micellar Water on a cotton wool pad. I used to use a Konrad sponge and water to wash it off but this is easier. I’d started to find my skin felt a bit tight after washing.

Follow up with Mad Hippie Vit A serum and then Dr Alkaitis Elixir. Occasionally I skip those and just swipe over some Liquid Gold.

I do a quick facial of Garden of Wisdom Salicylic Serum for 30 minutes followed by a Yes to Tomtoes mud mask for 10 minutes once or twice a week for a deep clean.

Dr Sam Buntings Cleanser = holy grail

PizzaForPusheen · 29/05/2019 17:50

It is until it starts stinging your eyes namechanged. Took six months for it to do that for me, but once it started it just got worse and worse until it was unbearable.

Fridakahlofan · 29/05/2019 17:53

massage in olive oil then clean off with hot flannel. Tone with witch hazel.

Frequently asked for ID - no wrinkles :)

namechangedforanon · 29/05/2019 18:01

I've used it since launch , well over 6 months .

It's not intended to be used on the eyes ( says on the bottle )

Although I do anyway 🤣🤣🤣 when I forget to take mascara off with miscellar

PizzaForPusheen · 29/05/2019 18:11

I didn’t use it on my eyes namechanged. But the fumes from using it elsewhere on my face started stinging my eyes.

Honeybee85 · 29/05/2019 18:42

Wash face in the shower with Dove facewash. Then put on Kiehls avocado eye treatment. Thats it!

millythepink · 29/05/2019 18:47

I use a hot cloth cleanser, either the REN rose one of an Aveda one. I spend several minutes really massaging it into my skin, then remove with a flannel rung out in hot water.

Then I apply a serum depending on what I feel my skin needs, followed by Olay Intensive Repair which contains a milder form of Retinol. I let this soak in while I read a few chapters of my book.

Lastly, I finish with Clinique Moisture Surge.

Liskee · 29/05/2019 19:14

Ponds cold cream wiped off with a warm flannel, then a cold flannel pressed to my skin followed by plenty of Nivea blue moisturiser.
