Please tell me your night time face cleansing routines?

Also, how do you do wash your face at the sink without getting water everywhere?

I use miscellar water to cleanse my make-up off, then Glossier's Milky Jelly to properly cleanse with a clean flannel. Then the Protect and Perfect serum or Eucerin's HA serum (with Nip and Fab's Dragon's Blood serum mixed in every few days) and then Eucerin HA moisturiser and eye cream. Twice a week I exfoliate with Natural Cure exfoliator (AMAZING) and I also use Alpha H Liquid Gold once or twice a week. And I do a Korean sheet mask once a week.

peachgreen · 25/05/2019 22:56

Also yes to SPF but use a separate one!

Motherof3feminists · 25/05/2019 23:03

Which wash cloths are the best? I'm now looking at reusable cotton pads too.

Alsohuman · 25/05/2019 23:05

Out of my large pile of flannels, George at Asda are the best, closely followed by Primark.

RoseMartha · 25/05/2019 23:06

Put a pea size amount of face wash on hands and under the warm tap which is running very slightly lather it up. Put lather over face and neck and lean over sink and rinse with hands. Pat dry.

Minkies11 · 25/05/2019 23:25

Wish I could be more consistent with my routine but currently :
Elemis cleansing balm with hot face cloth to remove make up then wash with another elemis gentle foaming thingy - it smells so good and is really gentle. Do have an Origins cleanser that literally leaves your skin squeaky clean but it's a bit harsh god don't ever get it up your nose
Use a Niod retinol or REN Vit C serum, wait a bit, then Skin Doctors Vein Away ( smells like lemon cheesecake) or elemis pro collagen.
Have various face masks or treatments for the weekend if I can be bothered. Have sensitive and reactive pale skin that likes to go red at the drop of a hat.

LoafofSellotape · 26/05/2019 07:28

Wilkos flannels are fab and only 39p,I have about 20!

Whiskyagogo · 26/05/2019 07:33

@motherof3feminists I bought some washable pads from an indie seller on Ebay and they're fab! Well worth it.

Jennbot · 26/05/2019 07:46

Double cleanse with a flannel using CeraVe cream cleanser and pixi mud cleanser.
Acid tone with pixi glow tonic.
Apply timeless vitamin c serum
Wait half an hour then apply retin a 1%.
Even after 3 years still can't use retin a every night so use CeraVe moisturizer.
I also use Alpha H beauty sleep power peel.

I've just started doing the Korean 10-step, less than two weeks in but my skin is better than it has ever been before.

I'm not sure if all the products I have are right for my skin type, but it seems to be working so far. I normally have very red skin, with dry flaky skin on my nose but blackheads all over my T-zone. I couldn't get it sorted with just the 3 step cleanse, tone, moisturise and occasional sheet mask.

So for the last 11 days or so it's been the following:

  • oil cleanser onto a dry face, then rinse off (it's messy at the sink, I have to put the bath mat there) NipFab glycolic cleansing fix
  • cream/foam cleanser. I'm going between the
La Roche-Posay dermo cleanser and Boots tea tree & witch hazel foam
  • exfoliate but only up to 3 x per week boots tea tree & witch hazel jelly scrub
  • toner pixi glow tonic but looking at getting COSRX AHA/BHA next
  • essence NipFab dragons blood essence mix
  • sheet mask once/twice a week, I go to tk maxx and look for the decent brands, can usually get products much much cheaper. I like Dr.Jart and Etude House
  • serum, the label has come off my bottle so I've no idea what brand it is
  • eye cream (night step only unless you don't wear make up) Etude House Collagen eye cream
  • moisturiser Dr.Jart ceramidin gel cream
  • suncream boots soltan 50 spf

It felt like overkill at first, doing at least 7 steps morning and night, but now my skin feels so nice it's necessary 😂

Oil on face, rinse a wash cloth under the tap, use on face to remove oil. Why is it messy? Are you using your hands to splash the oil off, because that won't remove it properly?

WhoEatsPopTarts · 26/05/2019 08:22

1st cleanse Emma Hardie morenga balm.
2nd cleanse Beauty Pie Japan Fusion
Wait half an hour
Tretinoin
Wait an hour
Beauty Pie hydrating serum
Waleda Skin Food
Sleep on a silk pillow cover

I’ve been using Tretinoin for three months with very little flaking, my skin is looking amazing, pores look better and wrinkles are reduced.

mildshock · 26/05/2019 08:32

I use my hands to massage it off. Hands and water is plenty to remove all the oil, because the cleansing oils are water soluble. You shouldn't need to scrub with a towel, it's too rough for skin around the eyes anyway.

LoafofSellotape · 26/05/2019 08:46

I don't scrub with a towel. What oil do you use? No way does coconut oil come of with a rinse with your hands ime.

mildshock · 26/05/2019 08:57

I use the NipFab glycolic cleansing fix.

Coconut oil won't come off with just water because it's not an oil based cleanser, it's just oil.

LoafofSellotape · 26/05/2019 09:12

Ah, that makes sense,a proper cleanser rather than oil.

professionalnomad · 26/05/2019 09:46

Remove make up with Clinique Take the Day of balm and a hot cloth
Second cleanse with DR Russo Exfoliating face wash
Kiehl's avocado undereye cream
Ordinary 2% granactive retinoid
Ordinary Rosehip oil
Nuxe Reve de miel lip balm slathered on

goose1964 · 26/05/2019 09:53

I don't wear make up so either just use water on a flannel or nothing and just put on a moisturiser I'm using superdrug vitamin e one atm

Baesyl · 26/05/2019 17:51

I'm the only one in my immediate family who is acne prone so everyone else could get away with just face wash + cream. Lately however, they've been buying stuff since their skin is aging a lot.

Oil face cleanser as makeup remover: banila co clean it zero
Exfoliator: helene oatmeal face scrub
Foaming Face wash: face shop bright rice cleansing foam
Toner: witch hazel + skin food peach toner for my nose and cheeks to tighten the huge pores
Serums: vit c, hada labo hyaluronic acid and cosrx snail mucin
Face oil: korres wild rose
Later on:
AHA: ordinary lactic acid 10%
Night cream: cerave pm (for the niacinamide and ceramides)

I don't use retinol but just bought the indeed laboratories' Bakuchiol Reface Pads which is supposed to be an alternative without any of the side effects.

I don't use any flannel since i prefer not to do laundry every week just for multiple cloths + don't want to spread bacteria by re-using flannels. So water does indeed, go EVERYWHERE

Baesyl · 26/05/2019 18:21

Oh and toner has helped reduce my acne and shrink my pores, so it's a staple of my skin care routine.

My spf is rohto skin aqua uv super moisture gel - it's super difficult to find spf, creams and makeup without dimethicone but the switch has helped eliminate most of my break outs.

BickBock · 26/05/2019 19:25

I’m really interested in trying the ultrabland challenge! Although I’m a bit nervous at spending so much on one product Confused

OP posts:
peachgreen · 26/05/2019 22:16

I use bamboo flannels at night and cheeky wipes in the morning.

SplatPancake · 27/05/2019 06:02

@Baeysl - which Rohto... do you use??

I’m a martyr to the methicones myself, and it’s getting harder to avoid them!

churchthecat · 27/05/2019 18:49

Do people hugely see a difference from acid toning? I've tried Nipnfab, pixi, Superdrug own, the ordinary, and never seen any benefit.

Whiskyagogo · 27/05/2019 19:15

@churchthecat I notice quite a big difference after using Nip & Fab glycolic cleansing Fix. My face looks a lot more radiant and clear.

I thought it might irritate my skin, I would often get dermatitis around my mouth and large hormonal spots that took a month to go. I haven't had either since I started using it!
