Racer / Cross back bra ?

Can anyone help me find a t-shirt type bra that will suit narrow shoulders ?. I’m a 34E and have finally decided I’ve had enough of bra straps slipping off my shoulders every 5 minutes. Racer or Cross back would be great, but sports bras don’t work as they are too tight for all day use and dig into my ribcage after a few hours. The straps on a standard bra are just too far apart to stay in place. Thank you !

Bra straps falling down often means back size is too big. What is your under bust measurement?

Notageek · 24/05/2019 20:08

Exactly 34” ..😀

I think you can buy clips to convert normal bras to racer back

Jessikka · 24/05/2019 20:17

I saw in my local John Lewis that they had all sorts of Bra Wizadry; there are things you can add to your straps to alter shape etc.

Worth a look at the JL website!

Pinkyyy · 24/05/2019 20:19

Surely you're just not tightening the straps enough?

Knitclubchatter · 24/05/2019 20:22

i found this gem
i too must have narrow shoulders or sloped or something but straps don't stay put.
not a real beauty but cotton, comfortable, and stays in place even when hiking.

Freya Deco bras have clips on the back to make them racer

Stillnotme · 24/05/2019 20:33

If you're underbust measurement is 34 and you're wearing a 34 bra, it's too big.

Check out Bravissimo.

Notageek · 24/05/2019 20:34

Thanks everyone, yes I’ve seen the clips to convert but I’m thinking that they’d be a complete faff to put on and off every time and I’m not sure how comfortable they’d be as the straps wouldn’t be at the right angle..maybe I should give them a go though. I’ll have another look at John Lewis website too Jessikka

Pinkyy thats what I thought originally but trust me even when I tighten them right up they slip off my shoulders within the hour.

Knitclub thank you, I’m glad its not just me , I think I need a bit more support though.

Maybe you need to change the style of bra

BlackPrism · 24/05/2019 20:46

Gap have bras with a wee hook that converts them

princesskatethefirst · 24/05/2019 20:46

Victoria secrets(pink) have loads of racer back bras, I love them, they always have offers on too.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 24/05/2019 20:47

I’ve tried the clips and they pull the straps so far towards the centre of your back that it becomes uncomfortably tight - you can’t lengthen the straps enough in most bras to allow for them to be pinched in that far.

I’ve been fitted in Bravissimo and my bra straps still fall down. Right now I have my bra straps tied in place with a length of wool across my back.

BlackPrism · 24/05/2019 20:51

@princesskatethefirst VS Pink don't go past a D

dementedpixie · 24/05/2019 21:02

Maybe look for a multi way bra

Notageek · 24/05/2019 21:06

Pixie I’ve tried loads from the Rigby and Peller to M&S and they all do the same thing although some are worse than others. I think I’m a truly odd shape as the wires tend to dig in even when the cup size is right .apparently I have a narrow between boob bit (can’t remember the proper term!)and this narrows the choice even more .

Princess ooh Victorias secret ..That would be a brave choice ! You’re right some of them are great and assuming a DDD is virtually the same as an E might be worth a go ..I’m sceptical of convertible straps though as considering the great strain they’d be under wouldn’t want one pinging free in the office! Has anyone tried them ?

Prism I’ll have a look thank you.

Cheddar welcome to a fellow sufferer ! I’ve considered this option on many occasion but never quite get sorted enough to try it !

Victoria's Secret have raceback and cross over bras

Knitclubchatter · 24/05/2019 21:08

i love the wool idea, i've seen it many a time.

IShouldBeSoLurky · 25/05/2019 00:20

I DIYed one of my older bras. Short length of black elastic stitched between the two straps at the back. I can't sew to save my life but it worked brilliantly.
