Hair help please - need to look less crap by tomorrow

I am meeting friends tomorrow, and while they will not care what I look like, there will be photos taken so I would like to look slightly less crap. My (long fine) hair is currently a mess and in need of a cut, but I haven’t found a decent hairdresser near me. So I am planning to trim my fringe (yes, I know) and do some kind of updo...thing. It’s a casual event, so nothing elaborate - just tidy, and if possible, flattering.

Can anyone recommend an easy to do style? I can never get messy buns to look anything but rubbish on me. Thanks.

I do this one quite a lot since I saw it recommended on here and people are always saying how nice it looks!

It takes less than two minutes, more like ten seconds. I don't need to use grips, but that depends on your hair. Dry shampoo it if your hair is fine.

That looks suspiciously easy, but the only headbands I have are the ultra skinny type. I will give it a go but I think it will be a ‘clip it up out of the way’ style in the end.

Get fringe done by hairdresser. It will take minutes but it's so hard to do yourself

I would have done, but the last time I went to a hairdressers near me, she did as bad a job of cutting my fringe as I do, so I figured I might as well hack at it myself for free.

Leaving in an hour so will have to do now.

Hairband up do sort of worked but headband was too springy and kept trying to escape. I will find a better headband and try it another time.
