Anyone dyed leather shoes successfully?

I have a lovely pair of leather sandals however the colour is a bit meh, think off white. Was thinking of dying the straps (don’t need to do the sole) either whiter (less risk) or a different colour. Sandals are £££ so don’t want to muck it up, is it possible?

My MIL was gushing recently about how she's dyed a pair of (leather) shoes and how much more wear she'll get out of them. She said it was very easy to do and is delighted with how they turned out. If you don't think you'll wear them again otherwise, then it's worth doing.

I've done it in the past. It needed a conditioner thing first which removed a lot of the original colour and then used the dye. I'm not sure if you could get them whiter though.

I've tried a couple of times but the dye always cracked in the creases.

I dyed a pair of cream shoes navy - they looked okay but when I took them off at the end of the day my feet were dyed blue too as the dye came off. Maybe I just have very sweaty feet ....

I tried it, the outcome was ok, I didn't think it was great. However, I got complimented on them once and explained how they used to be the different colour and my friend, who is into clothes, was genuinely shocked. That gave me a confidence boost to wear them. I went a darker colour than the original.

I've not tried but am considering tackling an old pair of satin shoes. If you shared a photo of your sandals people might be able to suggest what might work?

Feeling like I should maybe try.

Sandals are like this but more off white.

Does anyone have a particular brand or product they used?

I sprayed a pair of silver Ash trainers bronze once. Used metallic spray paint and masked rubber bits with tape. Worked pretty well. Needed to redo it after about 6 months of near daily wear. Would do that again.

Have also tried the dylon paint on stuff to dye dark brown shoes black. It was ok but not great, wouldn’t do it again. Kept dying my feet when I wore them and the black never quite looked properly black to me.
