I'm after a good quality black t shirt, lightweight, scoop neck, well cut. It's to wear to a funeral, tucked into some black patterned culottes. Where do I look?

Uniqlo, Arket, Baukjen are the best for T-shirts, in my experience. Very well cut and don't lose shape in the wash.
