i have a funeral coming up in a few weeks of someone i was very fond of. it is going to be a big affair he was very well known and much loved. while i am sadly at an age to have a couple of appropriate funeral outfits i know that most women will wear hats and don't know where to start. i take it fascinator type hats would be inappropriate? what about a completely plain pillbox style ? id prefer a proper hat, completely plain small brim topper style but the problem is my big head - 58cm - means i can never just go into john lewis and buy one off the peg. very grateful for any advice/thoughts x

58cm is not a massive head! Mine's 62cm hats are not an option!

I think the type of hat you are looking at is lovely but are you sure you need one? I have never been to a funeral where hats have been worn.

If you really want to get a hat try independent miliners (maybe via Etsy) as they will be able to make a suitable size.
