Normally I like Baukjen - I have several of their dresses and tops. But I've just tried on their yellow and white striped tee and although it's well made, a nice colour and yadda yadda, I know it's mumsy. I can't even put my finger on why it's mumsy. IT JUST IS.

What defines 'mumsy' for you?

Huff Really pissed off at myself. Angry

Your link only goes to the site, not the t-shirt.

NoBaggyPants · 22/05/2019 15:21

What's the problem with mumsy? If you like it, wear it.

MyNameIsCharlesII · 22/05/2019 15:24

Is it this one op? It’s just a top. I like it. I’d wear it. I’m a mum 🤷🏻‍♀️

Everything I wear is mumsy because I'm a mum.

Why is it used in a derogatory way? (Many) Mum's are fucking fabulous.

AllTheFours44 · 22/05/2019 15:28

For me, the physical attributes of the wearer define the level of mumsiness. So, the hair, the figure etc.

I would imagine the T-shirt on a young thing like Ariana Grande, teamed with young thing jeans/shoes/shades would not look mumsy.

Stick it on a middle aged woman like me though and the cool factor would dramatically drop.

We are what we are.

anyoldvic · 22/05/2019 15:29

I know what you mean.

It'd make me look mumsy. But on my young adult DDs it'd look great. It's an age thing and it's not fair.

BlythesEyes · 22/05/2019 21:07

To me the jeans and belt make it look 'mumsy '. The jeans are not baggy enough or tight enough. The belt is a bit bland. Change the Jean's to skinnies or girlfriend with a different belt and the top would be good. Or is it because its yellow Confused

PaulHollywoodsleftbollockhair · 22/05/2019 21:16

Nah- it's just a shit top.

Ellapaella · 22/05/2019 21:37

I've got a Boden Breton in those colours. I really like it.

FiremanKing · 22/05/2019 21:49

It just looks like a casual top you’d go shopping in. Nothing wrong with that.

cuppycakey · 22/05/2019 22:14

I would look like shit in that top Grin

LimpidPools · 22/05/2019 22:30

It looks like you bought it from Cotton Traders.

So it looks like it'll wash well. That isn't the first thing one thinks of when clothing exudes effortless glamour.

BusterGonad · 23/05/2019 03:36

I thought it was going to be a overly colourful tunic in brushed cotton that you'd team with leggings! Grin
I quite like a bit of yellow. Its how
you wear it that matters.

insecure123 · 23/05/2019 08:27

I'd wear it...I am not a Mum... (well does dog Mum count?)

ObvsItsNotMe · 23/05/2019 08:53

It's a nice top..and what's the problem with resembling a mum? Is that implicity unattractive? Men, as far as I am aware, commit themselves to, love and gasp sleep with women who are mumsy. If you like the top wear it. Let the mumsy chips fall where they may.

Petitprince · 23/05/2019 10:10

I like mumsy. Growing up poor, looking poor, these days I like to look mumsy. I'm a mum and I'm middle aged and nothing is hiding that. But I'm also happy in my own skin.

Elllllle · 23/05/2019 13:01

I am quite edgy (maybe just in my own head) and also a mum. I would wear this top but not with those awful jeans and belt!!
