Daytime alternatives to jeans

I am stuck in a rut with casual wear, i.e. What to wear in the daytime when not at work or the gym!

My default is jeans which is fine when its cold but I would like an alternative (but preferably not tracky bottoms or leggings)

If it's warm enough I'm happy to wear shorts and if I'm going somewhere nice I'm happy to wear a skirt/dress but I'm talking about days when it's not quite warm enough to warrant shorts and I'm not going anywhere that requires me to 'dress up'

What do you wear on your bottom half for such occasions??

Why do you need to be going "somewhere nice" to wear a dress?

Just asking as I wear them a lot and find it a much easier style choice as don't have to worry about tops and bottoms matching etc Grin

If I do wear casual trousers it will be something like these black ones which I wear with bottoms rolled up and trainers or ballet flats

Or These wide leg ones from TU

Cotton chino trousers?
I have a couple of pairs from m&s which I have dyed (safari beige is not my colour!)

They do a 7/8 length which looks nice, or you can roll up the hems on standard length.

cuppycakey - you absolutely don't but my wardrobe is very much one thing or another (dressy or casual) and I'm not very good at putting together an outfit that is somewhre between the two!

I own lots of dresses but only tend to wear them for nights out/weddings etc

I agree about skirts and dresses being really easy for daytime - I love Kemi Telford skirts..

But I'd look too at trousers like these www.zara.com/uk/en/woman-trousers-joggers-l1346.html?v1=1180450 which are identified as joggers but really aren't what you think of when you hear the term!

Try again with KT link...kemitelford.com/collections/bottoms?page=3

Linen trousers from Asda.

Thanks for the suggestions and links

I like the look of the KT wideleg trousers and skirts, never heard of that brand before

I have those per una ones they're very comfortable

I wear chinos pretty much every day, have a collection of them now, all in shades of khaki. Mine are George at Asda as they fit unlike M&S which never do. I also like slim cropped trousers which are similar to chinos but a bit shorter, not the baggy ones.

Once in a while I wear a longish light cotton skirt and top.

FizzBuzzBangWoof · 21/05/2019 17:01

Thanks Dontcallme I'll have to see if I can find some chinos that I like the fit of

I struggle to find tailored trousers that fit nicely on the hips and waist. They are usually too low waisted and if they fit on the hip they are too loose on the waist
