My posture is shot. Anyone else?

As I have aged (nearly 40) my posture has got really bad (from a profile view my neck is like a tortoise neck) and my upper back/shoulders has started to really thicken. Even when I try to correct it it doesn't make much difference. I saw a woman recently whose posture is like mine and her back was barrel like, I'm very worried this will happen to me. Is there anything I can do?

Yoga has helped my posture. You need to stick with it though- it's not a quick fix.

You need to see a physio/osteopath

You’ll need deep tissue massage and stretching to reduce the tension/contraction across your pectorals and strengthening exercises for your upper back muscles to pull your shoulders back.

Posture/back braces worn under clothes can help to keep you mindful of your posture. Avoid slumping forwards when you sit/watch tv/use your phone

Tes to yoga. It really does help

Yes, me too op. Not sure how to deal with it, but I think deep tissue massages might be helping.

I have a rowing machine to help work on curved shoulders, in part caused by chest size.

Yoga

I was going the way of turtle neck, and I found an exercise called TRX has been a really quick fix. There are classes and n my local sports centre so I think it must be available. Basically it’s really good at working the upper body and core, so the muscles are holding on to the skeletal system And keeping it in place instead of every thing just hanging down from the bones.
I noticed a difference after the first few sessions.
I’m 52 and was really unfit , but my progress has Been great. The best side effect is that I can sleep now too.
Yoga had improved my posture on the past, but nowhere near as quickly.

I went to a physio and he gave me 4 sessions of massage and a bunch of exercises to do. The massage was a really deep tissue one, it hurt but it really helped.

Also told me to make sure I got up from my desk and move more in the day, do more exercise generally and carry on with the exercise . I've taken up pilates again - yoga would do the job too. So 2 sessions a week.

I'll always have a bit of a stoop but it's slowing the curve.
