Nail magic makes my nails flake - what else is out there?

I bought a bottle to help grow my nails. It has generally amazing reviews.
However after a couple of weeks the tops of my nails started to flake and peel. They never do this normally. They are now more prone to breaking than they were beforeConfused
Is there anything else that’s any good?

I’ve not heard of nail magic before. Have you tried Nail Envy from OPI? You can buy it in boots, although you can probably get it cheaper if you shop around online.
Most of these nail hardeners only really work when you have the product on, so if you take it off then your nails will be softer again. I’ve not heard of nail envy damaging your nails though.
Would also recommend you keep them clipped (rather than filed) short whilst they recover.

Vaseline.

I've use Nail Magic for years as it was recommended to me to stop my nails peeling, I thought it was great. However for the last couple of months a couple of nails have been peeling badly and I've recently switched to Jessica Nail Fusion as a base coat. Seems quite good so far!

Taking pantothenic acid (available Holland and Barratt) has massively improved my nails.

Another vote for Vaseline. I swim most days and it's really helped with my dry nails..

Vaseline, big pot upstairs and downstairs and rub in at least 3x a day.

If you use a strengthener like the nail envy recommended above, make sure you also use a cuticle oil (CND solar oil is great) as the nail can become brittle.

Vitamin d supplements and nail envy. For me the Jessica one didn’t do a thing.

Nail envy did horrible things to my nails years ago. It took them months to recover. I think I'll try the vaseline first!

Try CND keratin nail rescue. Think it was recommended by Sali Hughes in the Guardian.

I'm on a medication which had the unfortunate side effect of making my nails flaky, brittle and peeling. CND has been fantastic, within a couple of weeks my nails were back to normal.
