Looking good on work ID card

I'm starting a new job on Monday and the bit I'm dreading most about the first day of induction is the photos for the staff pass.

I never look good in photos, usually tired out really.

Has anyone got any tips at all??

Nobody looks good in them. A young colleague with film star looks looked wiped out in hers. I looked like something from a horror film.

-wear a little makeup (under your eyes especially as this is where shadows appear)- you still want to appear natural but it will help you look fresh

-stick your chin a little further forward than you would normally

-if you are allowed to smile, think of something that makes you happy. this will make your eyes light up and the smile look genuine

-if not, clench your back teeth and think happy thoughts. your eyes will light up and so you will still look happy even when not smiling

I still haven't got it down though OP, my last passport photo looks like I was dragged through a hedge backwards!

Good tips thank you.

On my driving licence I look like a drug dealer, I hate showing it to anyone. And my passport is slightly less manic looking. I feel better now though!

I didn't think it was possible to look good in these, especially when they're taken with one of those webcam-esque cameras plonked on top of the security desk at the exact angle for an unflattering double chin shot

Livedandlearned · 18/05/2019 20:36

This is what I mean, double chin and wrinkly eyes

How did your first day go OP?

Livedandlearned · 20/05/2019 18:56

It was tiring, had so much info to try and learn, same again tomorrow!

I planned to come on and say thank you for the tips you gave me, I took your advice and my ID card looks actually really fine! It's a miracle!

No problem, I'm glad it went well and your photo turned out ok x

DD has her photo on her company web site. They sent her to a professional photographer. Spent ages trying to decide if the serious and competent look was best or the smiling and welcoming look! Lovely photos! Image clearly counts.

I just can't imagine me ever being brave enough to have my photo on a website but if it's part of the job then at least it's done properly
