Vit C for skin

Hi,
I'm thinking of adding a Vit C serum to my routine. It's a bloody minefield!
Could anyone recommend something effective but not too pricey?
Thanks,
Ags

I love the Vi hy one. Can't remember its name massively long silly name. It's amazing.

I use the Melano CC anti-spot essence. I buy it from Japan on Ebay. It's pretty good, the tube is quite small but it goes a long way.

Ive just been looking at reviews and think I will go with the vit c one from The Ordinary. Gets good write ups and I like some of their other stuff.

agapanthus1979 · 18/05/2019 19:30

Thanks everyone.
Which one Nico? They seem to do loads! Grin

The Ordinary one I had was foul. Like rubbing wet grit into your skin. I think they now do different ones, but avoid the wet grit one!
I am on my third Vichy one and it has made a massive difference to my skin. I glow.

OxanaVorontsova · 18/05/2019 19:37

I am using and loving this moisturiser from Beauty Pie, have also enjoyed using this one Vichy

NicoAndTheNiners · 18/05/2019 19:38

It was The Ordinary. VIt c 30% suspension in silicone I saw recommended.

PollyShelby · 18/05/2019 19:39

Superdrug one is great

AwdBovril · 19/05/2019 02:13

Urgh don't get the vit c from The Ordinary. I also found it to be like wet, stinging grit. Melano CC is infinitely better. And it goes further. And it doesn't make me look all shiny & oily.

MrsFoxPlus4 · 19/05/2019 02:17

Bodyshops vitamin C range is good too

SnipSnop · 19/05/2019 02:18

Yeah the one from The Ordinary is awful

NicoAndTheNiners · 19/05/2019 06:31

The ordinary silicone was specifically says it isn't gritty.

whymewhyme · 19/05/2019 06:34

I have the gritty one from the ordinary and I have to admit I was abit like... what...is...this...shit but I love it now! Yes it's abit gritty but it melts into like a oil consistency which is lovely for night time!!

Teddybear45 · 19/05/2019 06:35

Try Ordinary first. Or you could dissolve a couple of soluable vitamin c tablets in a few drops of water and rub on dry clean skin. It will gently exfoliate and eventually brighten your skin.

PollyIndia · 19/05/2019 08:00

I;ve got the drunk elephant one, but I don't love it, bit sticky. I'm about to start the Obagi vit c regime I think. Big gulp as it's pricey, but I'm 43, and reckon it's probably worth halting the sun damage now before I can see it too badly.

MustardScreams · 19/05/2019 08:03

I like the gritty Ordinary one! I use it at night so no issues. Wash your hands after though or they go a delightful orange colour.

It’s worked wonders at reducing dark spots and evening out my skin tone.

Schoeny · 19/05/2019 09:05

I've tried loads of vitamin c serums, and none seem to particularly do anything for me except turn my fingers and pillow case orange Confused

doctorboo · 19/05/2019 09:53

I’ve been using this and it’s doing ok with my acne prone skin.

Thanks again everyone.
Bought the Superdrug one to try. I like their skincare and the price is right!
Will try other recs if this doesn't suit.
Ags.

I realise you are fixed up now OP, but I make this vit C treatment, if you are interested later, or for anyone else. It appeared here originally, a couple of years ago.
