Please help me find a dress for my job interview

I have a job interview coming up for a role that I really really want as a teaching assistant.

I never usually wear dresses and my last job was very casual (jeans and blouse) so I don't have any experience of buying proper work clothes. I think I'd like to find a dress as its a few more weeks until interview and it's likely to be quite warm. And then I need some suit able shoes.

I'm 29, 5ft 3 and currently a size 12-14. I have quite chunky calves and ankles (so not sure what length dress would be best but definitely no ankle straps on shoes!). I don't suit very bright colours and wouldn't want anything to clingy as I'm very conscious of my mum tum! I also have tattoos on my wrist that I want to cover so either long sleeved dress or suitable jacket to wear over the top.

I don't have a very big budget - max of £50-£60 for dress and shoes.

Please help me!

I think Oasis is a bit teachery looking and might have dresses smart enough and within budget. They're quite good at advising if you ask. H and M might have something suitable too.

I'm in H and M now. Some things look like the could confirm Reiss. Here are some.

You are not very tall, so I think knee length- just below knee.

Midi length will cut off your calf at the widest point. They can also swamp shorter women, unless worn with high heels.

Thank you for the tip river. I have been looking at the type that are knee length at the front but go long er at the sides or back. To be honest it's been so long since I wore a dress that I'm definitely going to have to try some different styles on. Just not a Jr e which shops to head to - I hate shopping and would rather only need to go to a couple of shops than traipse round town all day.

You are short and have a limited budget, have a look at ASOS petite. There will be a lot of NSFW dross but they have a good search function so have a good look and you might find something.

eBay. Lots of new and pre loved clothing and shoes. Pre loved is great for an interview, all of those people just like you who need an outfit for an interview, wear it once and sell it on.

I did also see some long sleeved summery shirt dresses on the Reserved website today. All within your budget.

Thank you!

With a jacket or nice cardigan, depending on the role.

Thank you river, I like the boohoo one - hadn't thought to look there.
