How to "mess up" neat hair?

See tutorials all the time on pinterest with steps like the attached picture but never any instruction on how to achieve the texture. Can anyone help me - what do I do? Thank you!

Dry shampoo adds texture to hair. I always use it before I do a messy bun in my hair.

Back combing works.

I have the opposite problem 😂 Id like to know how to tidy up my messy wig!

Umberto Gianni does Back Comb in a Bottle- the only product I rebuy time and time again- and have been doing for over 10 years

I feel you Greenvalleymama! My hair always looks too messy when it's down and too tidy when it's up...!

Thanks for all the suggestions. So the consensus seems to be messify before I put it up? In the tutorials it always looks as if they scruff it up afterwards somehow. I'll give some backcombing and product a go.

I think in that example, they've mussed it with their fingers after putting it up.

Tryingtogetitright · 16/05/2019 19:02

That's what I thought hugoagogo... what I'm wondering is how to I actually muss?! Do I just pinch pieces of hair with my finger and thumb and tug to loosten it up? When I try that it usually just looks like the style is falling out. Is there a trick I'm missing? Sorry for sounding like an idiot, I'm rubbish at hair!

Spray texturising spray at the roots of your hair

Turn your head upside down

Use your fingers and rub your scalp with a bit of oomph

Flip your head up and your hair back over

Hello volume

The hair in the picture has been curled with a curling iron. You won't achieve that look on straight hair with products alone

Zhuzh it. Whole hands in the top and crunch hands in a bit. Bottoms your use fingertips and flick side to side
