Superga, Vans or ?

I’ve finally realised that Sketchers, while like walking on air, look completely hideous and I need something more stylish and just as comfortable.

I have a few days walking trip around London in a couple of weeks and last time I tried that, in other shoes, I do believe my feet died. 😳

Converse are too narrow for my boats. I have plantar fasciitis so would like memory foam insoles. And to top it all, I have weirdly sized feet - 7, 8 and sometimes 9 depending on the brand. I usually use European sizing - 41.5 or 42.

Please can anyone help advise?

Stan Smith.

I cannot wear Converse either. Stan Smiths are my holy grail Grin I can walk all day in mine.

The new vans comfycush range are very comfy and much more supportive than the normal range.

QueenofLouisiana · 16/05/2019 07:30

I can’t do Converse either. Superga for me.

Alwaysthesun · 16/05/2019 07:34

I'm loving my new Superga. Very comfortable!

I have the traditional vans, which are super comfy now, but it took a while to break them in (pain and blisters), and I nearly gave up.

newjobnerves · 16/05/2019 08:27

Adidas Gazelles?

MumUndone · 16/05/2019 08:59

I have the black moneybags sketchers. They're not 'pretty' but I don't think they're too hideous, great for walking and last for years. Does depend what your wearing them with though, wouldn't wear with a skirt or dress for instance - better to go with superga or Adidas gazelles.

Superga are wide but I find them very flat with no cushioning so you'd maybe need to add your own insoles.

LightOfAThousandStars · 16/05/2019 09:40

Vans are very comfortable and Adidas superstars

ChinUpChestOut · 16/05/2019 09:44

I have Veja. I like the background to their story, I also find them really comfortable. Lots of choice, I'm sure some styles are more 'in' than others but I bought pretty straightforward white ones with purple markings. To my utter amazement, I got style recognition from the 19 year old and the 23 year old.......Grin

Thank you, this is really useful info. My feet have a long, painful history and I hate shoes. Usually live in boots or slides, but when town or city walking in summer, neither is wise. I also have an aversion to ‘standard’ trainers.

It’s really helpful to know that Vans take a while to break in, so they’re off my list, as are the Supergas now if they’re very flat. I will have to find somewhere to try them on as I don’t want to drop £ and time on mail order.

Did I say I hate shoe shopping?! 😄

Adidas Superstars.

SpamChaudFroid · 16/05/2019 11:45

Nike Air Force 1. A bit chunkier than the other suggestions though. So comfy.

Puma Baskets? They are a wide fit I find.

JurassicGirl · 16/05/2019 11:51

I love my Superga trainers, so comfy! Used to wear converse but my feet were in agony all the time.

MikeUniformMike · 16/05/2019 11:51

If the Skechers are comfortable, stick with them.

HDready · 16/05/2019 11:53

I second Veja. Comfiest trainers I have ever owned. And they seem to be a brand with a conscience.

HostessTrolley · 17/05/2019 08:29

I have very wide square feet. Stan Smiths are fab, and come in a wide choice of colours. I also love vans old school. I can’t wear converse or gazelles as they’re too narrow, superga fit ok but are less comfy than Stan smiths
