Jeans for a barrel shape?

I live in jeans but unfortunately don't have a good jeans shape! I am tall with reasonably slim legs but am also overweight (size 18) and the majority of my weight is on my belly. So jeans that fit my stomach/waist are baggy on my bum. I'm just pottering round the house at the mo in an old pair of jeans with no belt and caught sight of my rear view in the mirror. Dear god, safe to say the jeans are immediately being despatched to jean heaven, they most definitely don't spark joy. I have a more stretchy pair on now which are better but they still bag round the bum.
Are there any styles/brands for me or shall I just resign myself to baggy bum-ness? Sad

Whistles barrel leg jeans!

Tingface · 14/05/2019 15:17

I’m the same. My thighs are two sizes smaller than my waist Sad
I buy skinny jeans with a high waist and a high Lycra content in the right size for my bum and thighs and then there’s enough stretch for my belly. Any bigger and they just say around my arse and thighs like a nappy.

They look the opposite shape to what I need though sunbeam? Baggy legs and a fitted waist. I need fitted legs and a capacious midsection

Next jeans sometimes work for me. Or New Look!

Pinotjo · 14/05/2019 15:41

I agree with Tingface, skinny with high waist or for summer try the coulotte jeans, dress up with a nice top and wedge sandals or dress down with a tshirt and flip flops, new look have 25% off jeans at the mo. Although I buy jeans from Primark, they do loads of different styles

Joules jeans work quite well on a barrel -I am one so I know-- and if you're after cheap and cheerful if you're planning on de-barrelling, then Jenna one's from New Look are ok.

BrillyPribble · 14/05/2019 15:57

😆Citadel, I'm working on debarrelling now but I have both diastasis recti and a chronic illness which means it's hard to exercise so it'll take a good long while to make a difference I think.
I have quite a few next jeans which are OK but I'm sure there must be better fitting ones. I think the next ones are almost too stretchy so work themselves down all the time.
