Wand curls - how to stop dropping

Hi, I have a wand curler and can get a good result. BUT: they drop within an hour and I'm left with limp, slight waves.

I've tried skipping conditioner and using the VO5 sea salt texture spray to give grip, but nothing works.

I've attached a photo of how my hair looks before it drops. Thanks in advance for any tips!

A ton of hairspray?

Firm hold hair mousse when it's wet, alongside a volumising hair spray.

I bought some curl spray from GHD that works really well

I do it tighter than I'd like, hairspray loads then wait a bit and give it a bit of loose comb with my fingers.
Got a new heat protection spray too that has mild hold, the combination works well.
