Curlformers, anyone?

I have dead straight hair (not in a good way). I've tried a Dyson Airwrap (sent it back), and have used heated rollers since forever - which are great, for about 10 minutes. My mum used to put it in rags for me, but I couldn't bear to sleep with knobbly things on my head now.

The only thing that gets it to hold even the faintest trace of a curl is my Remington straighteners - but I'm gradually frying it as I have to do it a couple of times a day. I wash my hair every other day, which I know is also not that good for it either.

I've looked at about a billion websites for ways to curl hair effectively but without turning the ends to pubes, and I came across Curlformers. Has anyone tried them? I'd be v grateful for any comments, either negative or positive!

Sorry to ask the obvious but if you’re curling your hair several times a day, why don’t you have a perm?

Curlformers weren’t great for me, difficult to use. Couldn’t get the curl to go to the root. And I found them pretty uncomfortable.

I hadn’t heard of them so just watched a YouTube video, they look like an absolute nightmare to put in!

Thank you, both. Ejector, I have had two perms. The first was quite good (bouncy rather than perm-y). The second one was horrendous. What's more, it took me a year to get my hair into a good enough state to have it (the hairdresser wouldn't do it until it was in better condition). I can't imagine any hairdresser would do it now, as every single hair is frazzled. Sad Useful to know that Curlformers weren't a great success with you, though.
