A jacket that goes with everything

I’m looking for an everyday jacket that goes with almost everything, what do you all wear? My wardrobe is mostly khaki, black, grey and white (I’m very adventurous you see)

I’m also going abroad at the end of the month and would like to be able to wear it in the evening if I need to, not for anything fancy but just in case the temperature drops.

I’ve got a voucher for Next (under £100) but it doesn’t have to be from there. Can anyone help please?

So you are looking for a light jacket? I have a blue denim jacket which goes with everything except blue jeans. I also have a military style jacket which also goes with everything except khaki chinos. Think those two are the most classic options.

black leather?

madeyemoodysmum · 13/05/2019 07:10

Summer jackets are hard but the ones I’ve found get the most wear are the classic denim and a short leather jacket like another poster said.

If you don't plan to wear it to work (unless your workplace is quite casual), then agree, black or very dark grey denim jacket.

If the 'everything' in your title includes work in a more trad office-y place, then a blazer style jacket - I'd usually recommend navy, but with the colours in your wardrobe, it had better be black. Solid black can look a bit heavy in summer, though

Jersey blazer? Look at Whistles, they have some in the sale.

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 13/05/2019 08:14

I have a black linen blazer from Whistles that I wear with pretty much everything (my wardrobe also has a very limited colour palette).

It's so easy to wear but it just makes everything look that little bit more chic (imo, could be deluded about that aspect).

I bought a grey jersey blazer recently and surprised myself by loving it. Thought it might be a bit plain / worky, as my wardrobe is v casual, but it looks really good with jeans and feels nice to wear.

I like a denim jacket, but as I wear jeans all the time I just don't get that much wear out of them, cos double denim and all that.

Like a leather jacket too but still haven't found the perfect one!

Terrysyogurt · 13/05/2019 08:25

Char where did you get it? I'd love one.

I am bumping this thread back up as I am also after the same holy grail of jackets!

XingMing · 14/05/2019 20:18

Not much help I agree but I bought a pink/burgundy/grey/taupe checked linen jacket in a battledress style, with elbow length sleeves in 1984 that still comes out regularly. The shoulders are a bit powerful, but it's come back into style big time this year. For the first time since 2000, it should be said. I still like it, but it's spent a lot of its life retired. It's one of my arguments against Marie Kondo.

@CharDeeMacDennis yes, I also would like to know where your fab grey Jersey blazer was from?

Whoopstheregomyinsides · 14/05/2019 22:25

I want a grey jersey blazer too!!

Golden0ldie · 14/05/2019 22:43

I also need a new blazer having worn the same navy number for around 6 years. It is just perfect but now looking a bit too well worn so need an up to date version. If anyone finds anything, please post a link, as will I.
