Bra to wear with a vest top

I feel like I’ve been looking for years. I’m a DD so need a proper bra, not bralette/strapless, but I hate seeing ugly bra straps. Does a bra exist that has plain straps ie not satiny or with the circle for adjusting showing, more like a bikini strap? Surely someone must have thought of this?

Bravissimo have vest tops with built in bras.

buggerthebotox · 12/05/2019 20:24

I have one from Peacocks, of all places. Fine under strappy tops. I don't wear any others now. They're wireless with a chicken fillet (removable). Dirt cheap, too.

I'm an EE cup.

You could go with contrasting bra strap colour ( instead of trying to hide it). Embrace the strap ! Be Proud !

Been trying to paste a link. It's something like "Women's Seamfree Bra in White" - £5 - matching knickers and comes in black too.

StarlightLady · 12/05/2019 21:19

I have a problem with gravity and strapless bras too.

I would avoid white or so called nude (I don’t own either) I think it just looks as if you have thrown the first thing on without thought. I always go for contrasting colours or black.

I have a blue bra about 18 months old, which has delicate red roses on the straps. I thing it’s a Panache but it might be a Freya. I always cut the labels off (I think bra labels sticking out look awaful) so not sure.

I’ve also tried a vest top with a built in bra. It was like wearing a corset. Maybe ideal for a winter day but best tops are for summer.

StarlightLady · 12/05/2019 21:20

Correction: Vest tops are for summer.

Thanks all. I used to have vest tops from M&S with built in bra, they were brilliant, and one year they did them in loads of colours, pink, blue, stripes.... then just black, white, grey then stopped altogether Confused. Most vest tops with built in bra are too fitted on the body for me (highlighting all the rolls and bumps) but the M&S ones weren’t. I’ll have a look at the Peacocks one, thanks. Wouldn’t you think they’d have come up with a good solution by now!

Is this it buggerthebotox? www.peacocks.co.uk/lds-seamfree-thin-strap-8b3032.html
If so does it give you a decent shape? If the answer to those two questions is yes I think I might love you! They even have bright colours, I’m really quite excited!!!!

I remember a time when the shops were selling bras with interchangeable pretty straps for summer e.g. see through and a floral. But it was a while ago now...

I sometimes just tuck the straps down the side myself.

StarlightLady · 14/05/2019 09:31

@wherestheweightlosspill - if men wore bras, they would have come up with a solution by now.

As for clear bra straps, mentioned above, they glisten in the sunlight, No!!!!!!!!!!

Miniloso · 14/05/2019 09:36

I have this one for vest tops, ima 32E - it’s brilliant, the straps are hidden, it has good support and seam free.

Miniloso, that looks really good! I think I've been using the wrong terminology! I was searching racerback but it looks like they're called cross over! I'm a 32DD so very similar size to you. Thank you!!
I have bought some of the Peacocks ones (at £5 it's worth a punt) and I'm going to try that M&S one too.
Starlightlady, totally agree that re: men and clear bra straps (personally I think they look cheap and feel sweaty)
Thank you all!!

Yes those were the ones, I think. I needed size 6-8 (32E/F) as there's lots of stretch.

Good luck!

Miniloso · 14/05/2019 14:07

@wherestheweightlosspill 😁 Glad to help.

wherestheweightlosspill · 14/05/2019 16:37

Ooh thanks buggerthebotox, I would never have ordered 6-8!
