GHD replacement - advice please

Good morning!

Just straightened my fringe and my GHDs are making a peculiar buzzing sound and the red light has been turning off. Think it's time to retire them! I've had them 13 years so they've done a good stint!

Any recommendations for straighteners to replace them with? Don't mind spending out for another set of GHDs if they're still the best, but I think I've seen threads suggesting the later models aren't as good?

I only straighten the front bit of my hair, not my whole head if that makes any difference?!

Many thanks

I’d like to know this too! My GHDs have started turning themselves on and off constantly. I’ve been looking at the GHD hot brush but it was only limited edition for some reason and is out of stock everywhere 🤷‍♀️

Cloud9..... amazing x

Cloud 9s! Company was started by the original GHD owner. Newer GHD's are nowhere near as good as the originals. Cloud 9's are how GHDs used to be.

I have these and they're great: uk.remington-europe.com/products/s7412-air-plates-straightener

Takes a few goes to get used to them as they have "suspended plates" but I really like them. I've had 3 pairs of GHDs and none of them have lasted longer than 2 years so I didn't want to buy them again.

My hair is long and very thick and has a natural wave and these straighten my hair really well.

Thanks for the suggestions. The suspended plates look a bit odd, wouldn't have considered those without a recommendation so thank you.

Liking the look of the Cloud 9s... I only straighten my fringe, am a bit torn between the original and the micro. The micro is half the price but worried it won't get hot enough. Anyone got the Cloud9 micro? Should I just get the originals? Decisions decisions!

The micro will be hot enough but it is tiny. You will only be able to do your fringe.

Tryingtogetitright · 10/05/2019 13:34

Thank you. I usually only do my fringe but suppose it is nice to have the option to do my whole head. Don't want to buy the micro now then end up having to buy the original ones too.

-1 for cloud nines Mine felt cheap and plasticky, and kept turning off on every pass through my hair Customer Service was terrible so returned them I had to raise a PayPal dispute to finally get my refund
