What to wear for job interview with webcam

I have a job interview tomorrow, which is fantastic and I am excited, as it is a step up. In person interview, no problem, suit, tidy hair, light make up as it is quite a conservative industry.

The interview is via webex with a video conference. Should I dress as if in person, e.g. suit and blouse or slightly less formal, e.g. blouse or smart wrap dress?

It is my first video interview, I am a 48 year old overweight woman if that has any influence.

Thanks in advance for your advice

Wear what you would wear if it was an interview face to face, but nothing too close patterned or check which may look fuzzy on the webcam. Also make sure the background behind you is tidy or neutral. Record yourself and do a trial run. Good luck!

Thank you so much, that is a great idea about recording a trial run. Thanks again for your advice

Yes my daughter did this recently and wore what she would have worn to an interview in person. She got the job. Good luck!

Wear what you would to an interview. These are common in my industry. I tend to choose brighter colours than face to face - black/navy tailoring that looks good in person can be a bland/ unmemorable on a webcam/videoconference.

Thank you everyone for your input, great idea about brighter colours too. Will have a dry run tonight in planned outfit, thanks so much everyone, fingers crossed for tomorrow. Just need to be up at 5 to wear the dog out so she sleeps during the interview!!

Someone I know did one of these interviews in a suit and tie on the top half and Denis the Menace pyjama bottoms. And they got the job Grin.
