Am I just the wrong shape

I read so many threads where people say they're apples or pears or hourglass but I'm none of those. The nearest I can get is a B big boobs, and a big tummy.

I've read loads of look polished but nothing looks brilliant on me. I can't wear the Mumsnet "uniform" okay I can wear a nice top but it has to be stretchy or its either too tight on the front or too loose on the back. Jeans are off the menu as if they fit my tummy I can get a tennis ball down the back.

I also suffer from thunder thighs so a lot of trousers aren't flattering. I spend most of my life in yoga pants. To top it off I have relatively small feet but they're wide and I have a high instep so not many shoes fit me properly.

And wtf is a messy bun? My hair is bra strap length and is wavy verging on curly which is nice enough when it behaves but I have good hair days like others have bad hair days.

I'm fucked aren't I.

Oh and I'm an 18 and 5"7

You’re not fucked but some weight training would help you tremendously. Buy some 2kg hand weights from the supermarket and use them to tone your arms and chest. The move on to planks and your legs but you’ll need heavier weights for legs and ass

Styled by Susie has a Facebook page you might enjoy. Lots of different shapes/outfits. You can send off for a style analysis to help - they have shapes like strawberry and rectangle as well.
Scarf over an open shirt with a long vest top might look nice. Next jeggings are high waisted and stretchy.

If you are a B, you are an apple. Hourglass figures got a defined waste even in the seriously overweight state.

I am an hourglass when toned and an apple when fat. My fat goes disproportionately to my middle.

Given you are only 18, it will be relatively easy for you to tone up and change your shape. Weights are more effective for improving the outline/toning up.

BogglesGoggles · 09/05/2019 18:05

It sounds like you store fat around your middle so your shape will probably change it you loose some weight.

I'm the same. Hate it.

@HeyTodayIsTheDay

I think she's size 18, not age 18.

feelingverylazytoday · 09/05/2019 22:58

Re your hair, have you looked at the curly girl method?

Apples don’t usually have large thighs though so it does sound to me as though the OP falls between categories.

What about dresses OP? Take loads of sizes into a he changing room as I often was a different size in dresses.

One of my motivators for losing weight was to have a better choice of clothes, I put on weight in an unattractive distribution which was very difficult to hide or flatter. I am now at the upper limit of a healthy BMI and it is so much easier now, I am still thick set around my waist but most clothes now work.

goose1964 · 10/05/2019 11:35

Thanks for the comments, I am a size 18, wish I was 18 again. I do go in at the sides of the waist but I no longer have the arse to be an hourglass, I just have a slight bump.

My weight Yo-Yos throughout the year, I lose weight in summer and put it on in winter. I have some lovely dresses from the past, quite classic which I hope in vain I'll get into.
