Want some cool glasses-v round face

V round face...equally round body, generally prefer men’s glasses as they look better due to be being bigger.

Have always wanted cool cat eye/brightly coloured glasses but either never found any or been brave enough to pull them off. I’m trying to do some self love and that includes trying to wear what I’d like!

So on that, Can anyone point me in the direction of anywhere that can help?

As an aside, would the glAsses above work as actual glasses do you think or look better as sunglasses?

TIA

Glasses Direct offer free home trials, they post you up to four frames to try and see how you like them. They also have virtual try on system (IIRC you take a picture or choose a face a bit like yours and then see how the design looks on it).

I have a round face and always thought bigger glasses made me look silly, but eventually took the plunge and got some Ray Bans, they’re like a large-ish rounded slightly rectangular style. They are regular glasses for my short sightedness, but I bought the lens that tint in the light so they go darker too. I really like how they look as glasses, I think it works for that and not just sunglasses and I’ve actually been complimented on them (never had compliments on my glasses before!).

Thank you, will check them out

Ask around locally for the best independent optician (not SpecSavers, Boots, Vision Express etc). Make an appointment with an adviser and prepare to spend an hour trying on everything you like the look of; a good independent will steer you to the styles they think are most flattering while indulging you in trying on a lot. Trying on four frames is not enough; you really need to try on 50, in different colours and shapes, and given the cost involved you should spend a commensurate amound of time to choose. My frames, with smooth varifocal lenses, cost more than anything I've ever bought except cars and houses, so give it proper care and attention.

As a general rule you want to err towards frames the opposite of your face shape. Round if you have an angular face, more angular if your face is round. So not those if you have a very round face. Something with some sharp points at least at the top might work.

Thank you!

Didn’t think of an independent optician!

Thanks buffalo!

I have these, they’re lovely and big. I have an absolute ball for a head, but they’re very flattering.

Independent opticians are so much better in my experience, you often see the same person and have a lot of choice.

£££ but if you’re looking for cat eye frames:
operaopera.london/

Otherwise I’d recommend iolla:
iolla.com/

Agree with PP re independent opticians.

I was told to match the colour of the frames to your natural hair colour as that would suit your skin tone the best.

florence11 · 09/05/2019 07:44

I definitely agree the matching frames to hair etc. I'm very pale with mid brown hair and hazel eyes. Glasses like the ones you posted don't look good on me at all. I have these, they are LK Bennett's (half price on Boots contact lens scheme) but you can get similar styles cheaper online. I was really picky about whether the rim sat on my eyebrow line or not and these didn't. I love them so much I don't wear contacts anymore.
