Red hair won't go!

OK so I am trying to get out previous colours which had a bit of red in them but all I seem to be able to do is remove the brown colour, leaving me quite ginger!
Currently I'm using vitamin c and dandruff shampoo leaving on for an hour ish then washing off.
I'm going for one of 3 routes tomorrow

  1. Colour remover (stinky ones)
2.box dye semi permanent in an Ash colour 3.permanant dye that will lighten slightly Any thoughts on these options? Nothing against gingers it just doesn't suit Grin

Hair does go a bit reddish if you are trying to strip permanent dye. I think all dyes, even the dark ones contain some sort of peroxide/ammonia that permanently lightens the hair so you won't be able to get back to your exact natural shade.

I have used colourb4 to remove a chestnutty brown dye. It left it light gingerish but after a week or so I was able to re-dye it with a lighter shade.

You need to go to a salon. Trust me on this. Taking the red out of hair isn’t something you can do at home.
