Hi, my skin is in a crappy state. Just had a look at my mishmash of products and most are out of date and gone gloopy etc. So I'm going to bin the lot and start over. Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations before I start to burn a hole in the credit card. I'm 36, I've oily skin and have very few wrinkles and lines. I burn extremely easily, as I'm super pale. I'm not sensitive to any ingredients as far as I know. So, style and beauty folk, hit me with your wisdom. Thanks!

Crappy in what way? Spotty? Dull?

I like micellar water to take makeup off, pixi glycolic to follow and aveeno moisturiser. Similar age to you. Skins looking the best it has in ages.

Dull and a bit meh. Bit flaky under my makeup sometimes which I know is just from neglect!

I love Tropics (I don’t sell it I promise) and it’s really helped me stick to a better routine, it feels really nice on, smells good buts it’s a little pricey. The make up is also really good and doesn’t feel like you have loads of crap on your face. Most people who sell it will let you borrow their kit for a week or so to test it so you could try that

I'm the same age as you Op ands have recently had a lot of success with The Ordinary products. The good news is that they are super affordable so you can try new things without being massively out of pocket. What would like to improve about your skin and I might be able to give you some recommendations?

Whoops, sorry just seen you have already said!

I would try the Niacinami fed 5% Lactic acid with Hyaluronic Acid on and evening, it's quite gentle for an acid but very effective.

Sorry sleeping toddler jolted on my knee and pressed post!

Niacinamide on a morning, great for oily skin and then the Lactic Acid 5% on a night.

Get thee to the Fantastic Skincare thread. Honestly. It sounds like you are a similar age & skin type to me, & my skin is so much better, & more comfortable, since I found those threads (I think they are onto about thread 15 or so).

Fantastic Skincare thread here.

Baloonphobia · 07/05/2019 13:19

Thanks everyone. Must pop over to that thread. I'm in the car and just pulled down the mirror in the sun visor. Extreme close up of over-large pores and loads of red blotchiness.
