Brikenstock what's the sizing like please?

So want to order a pair, I have tried the 1 shoe shop we have left in town but they don't stock them unfortunately. What is the sizing like? Normal, run big or small? I am a size 3.5 so if a 1/2 size isn't available I sometimes need a size 3 (sketchers) and sometimes a size 4 (converse). So do you size up or down if your a 1/2 size, thank you

I'd go down. I'm usually a 6.5 but I wear a 6 in Birkenstocks.

I 'd say they are on the bigger/ wider side.
I have a pair of classic Birkenstock... usually have size 5.5 or 6. They are size 5 and fit lovely around my wide feet.

I go down a whole size as per the instructions on their website. Their sizing is enormous.

I also can’t stand my toes banging against the raised edge which runs all round the front so I’d always go up and not down a size

True to size. I hate any sign of heels hanging over the back of a sandal- yuck yuck yuck.

I think true to size too. Your foot must sit inside the raised edge or they won't be comfortable.
Althoughif you are a half size you'll probably be fine sizing down.

I am a 3.5 too. I wear 4 in converse and Nikes etc, 3 in high heels generally. In Birkenstocks I wear the size 35, which might be the 2.5?? I tried on the 36 but when my foot arch was in the right place the knobbly bits under the toe joints were under my actual toes, so not comfy. In the 35 all knobbly bits are in the right place. The ends of my toes just about touch the raised bit round the edge but not in any uncomfortable way.

This is my 3.5 foot in a size 35. No hanging out bits and all lumps in the right place.

I'm a 39 but go down to 38 for Birkenstock's Mayari.

Huuuuuge. I always go down a full size. Love them though!

They do most styles in both narrow and normal fittings so you may also want to bear this in mind. Some of the styles I find look absolutely huge on my feet - others look ok. I'm also a 3.5 and usually take a narrow 36 in Birkenstocks.

I am a size 40 in other shoes/boots but take a 39 in Birkenstocks.

I'm 5-5.5 normally and wear 37 birk.

Ridiculously large. I was buying some sandals from them a couple of years ago and they were far too long - I went down 3 sizes and they were still too long so I gave up.

I usually wear size 38. In Birkenstock I wear a 36 but buy the wide fitting as have duck feet

I can't get over how different the responses are on this! I'm like you OP, need to order them but judging by this thread you need to order 3 different sizes and try them all

I am usually a 6 because I have wide feet and 5s are usually to narrow in most shoes but I have size 5 gizehs which fit me really well.

For me many years ago they used to be true to size. Three years ago I must’ve ordered around 15 pairs all came up differently only one pair actually fit me. By sheer chance I found a pair in Tk max a few weeks ago that fit. The sizes are for me not consistent anymore

I think it depends if you buy the regular or narrow version. I size down in a regular but take my normal size in the narrow. Definitely worth trying both in a shop then finding the same cheaper online, even if you try a different style the footbed mould is the same.

If you're between sizes definitely go for the larger.

They have a size guide on their website that you print off and stand on, this was pretty accurate when I ordered mine earlier this year. Enjoy, I absolutely love mine!
