Hippy wedding in a field

As the title suggests, I’m going to a Hippy wedding in a field. Now I’m pretty much all about the boho look and always have been a natural woman but I don’t want to look like I’m going to a festival. I still want to look pretty and a bit special, glam without looking out of place or too try hard.
I have a limited budget and am currently a very curvy 5 feet tall size 12-14, actively trying to lose weight but have disabilities so struggle to exercise...
I’m warm coloured, long dark curly hair with a very beachy blondeness added in!

Forget that it's a hippie wedding in a field...you don't have to dress the part. You have to just find something you love and are comfortable in.

Can I ask what parts of your body you like best? And which do you like least?

dragonflyflew · 06/05/2019 14:17

Hey hennypenny thanks for the tip, makes perfect sense. Sadly there’s not much of my body I like, I have scoliosis so I’m wonky, have a huge tummy, huge arse, wide shoulders, probs boobs best, ankles and wrists!
I do have lovely hair and my face isn’t too bad Grin

I would dress for comfort first. Being outdoors for a wedding is very different to being indoors. I would cover your legs so you don't have to worry about wind, sitting in the ground, are a bit warmer. Trousers, a nice tunic top or dress over with a cardigan would be my choice, with comfy flats. Also have sunscreen and bite spray if you're susceptible. I'm so jealous, I love a wedding like this :-)

Laquila · 06/05/2019 18:40

Maxi dress? The good thing about that is that you can have wellies or the like underneath and no-one will really notice. Unless it’s the kind of wedding where they all make a thing of wearing Hunters with their boho minidresses 😆

When and where is it, and do you know what the weather will be like and if there’ll be any indoor shelter provided?

sleepismysuperpower1 · 06/05/2019 18:44

think i would be wearing something like this with black leggings

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/05/2019 18:59

Midi dress or cropped jumpsuit with wedge espadrille things? Pretty cardigan under a smartish jacket for warmth if needed.

Floral jumpsuit

Pretty dress

Lots of nice espadrille wedges around still.

Lace maxi dress with wellies, and shrug/pashmina/DrizaBone.

With a fantastic (hippy) hat, so all the attention is on your fave

dragonflyflew · 06/05/2019 19:47

All lush ideas thank you. I have some fab Clarke’s gold wedge espadrilles and being the wonder of a very extensive wardrobe I probably have variations of all your suggestions!
The wedding is late June. It’s a lesbian pagan do so I’m not expecting much in the way of Hunters and boho minidresses Grin
I’m a hippy at heart but love a wedding excuse to get glammed up, I have a stunning vintage maxi, rusty red velvet with gold trim, last time I wore with a gold headband and I have a bronzey tiara featuring teeny foresty leaves etc (much prettier than it sounds Grin

I was slightly slimmer then but I’m doing mfp and have started exercise so it’s doable...
What do folks think?
I had a kinda gold affair across the forehead boho/Wonder Woman vibe

That outfit! You look stunning.

sleepismysuperpower1 · 06/05/2019 19:55

oh is gorgeous!

dragonflyflew · 06/05/2019 19:58

greyhound thank you. I’d forgotten all about it until someone said maxi upthread! I always go short / kneelength as I’m so short but bought this dress for a vintage party!

laquila I love the idea of wellies underneath Grin

Definitely that dress! Gold accessories and I agree wedges or wellies, they’d look perfect. You’ll look amazing I’m sure!

Loopytiles · 06/05/2019 20:05

That is a fab dress!

Practical shoes are needed.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/05/2019 20:10

Gorgeous, gorgeous dress. You'll probably need something that looks okay over it, for warmth. Please don't wear it with wellies though. Pretty wedges that aren't too £££ and you don't mind getting trashed!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/05/2019 20:11

Or gold flip flops! Grin

nzeire · 06/05/2019 20:20

You’re GORGEOUS! Dress perfect!

dragonflyflew · 06/05/2019 22:07

Oh WOW!!! Thank you everyone! This has made my day! Funny I bought that dress as a kind of prince of fancy dress but couldn’t bear to part with it!
I do have some lovely gold jewelled sandals I wore as a bridesmaid a few years ago, think wedges will work better though otherwise I’ll have to deal with the pain of taking up the hem!
Sure I can find some fun boots to wear later in the evening, funky biker ones maybe with biker jacket, the wedding crew will not be full so pretty much anything goes!
What lovely people you are SmileWineFlowersFlowers

Yes to the red dress!! Definitely go for it!

stucknoue · 06/05/2019 22:32

Wear something that's comfortable, ok in warm, cool or wet weather, flat shoes for sure, you mention physical health issues so ensure access arrangements especially if you use a wheelchair. Mostly just have fun, don't worry about the right style do what is best for you

Ohyesiam · 06/05/2019 22:33

You description of yourself and that picture don’t match. You’re stunning!

I was going to suggest this as it gives me "wedding in a field" kind of vibes...

But that red dress is gorgeous!

MrsDrudge · 06/05/2019 23:07
