Magical jeans that flatten tummy please

Hello!
So I’m a size 12 fairly tall person with slim limbs but a post-children pot belly and a bit of a muffin top. I’m finding my current jeans don’t hide it well and I’m wearing tent like tops to cover me up. Does anyone recommend a brand (preferably high street, not online so I can try a few on before buying) that will make me look less....lumpy?

Uniqlo do nice stretchy high waisted jeans. High waist will help avoid any muffin top.

Sharpcattlegridheavyhat · 05/05/2019 20:54

Yes...think I need high waist, although was still worried if the denim was thin I might still stick out lumpily.

A lot of brands seem to look like high waist and then when you try them on they’re mid rise. I’ll have a look in uniqlo, thanks!

New look Hallie jeans, they're high waisted super skinny jeans WITH belt loops, honestly the best jeans ever, I have a little bulgy bit at the bottom of my belly that I'm very self conscious of and it covers it .

NYDJ (not your daughters jeans). They aren't cheap but they have this criss cross effect inside that really holds your tummy in.

They often do sales online.

Sharpcattlegridheavyhat · 05/05/2019 22:00

JaneEyre that’s the type of thing I’m after- magic trickery!

I have the same problem gayandokay - might try on those new look jeans too

Topshop Jamie come up high and are a nice thick denim.

OogieMcBoogie · 05/05/2019 23:26

I second the New Look Hallie high-waist skinnies. I have a long body and c-section tum and they hold it all in beautifully.

TooMinty · 05/05/2019 23:29

Two kids, two times c-section overhang currently being held in by Topshop Jamie jeans, bought a new pair today Smile

Purplegecko · 05/05/2019 23:39

I love new look yazmin high waisted jeans, I have 3 pairs in different colours, they hold everything in and are very flattering

managedmis · 06/05/2019 01:38

You do need thick ish denim. Cheap stuff just shows lumps and bumps.

boredandgay · 06/05/2019 05:22

Another thing to consider, topshop jamie jeans aren't as thick as new look Hallie jeans but topshop are £40 and new look are £25-£30

bratzilla · 06/05/2019 05:51

I got a pair of high waisted elasticated jeans from Asda last week, they worked so well a colleague asked if I’d been going to the gym Grin

Sciurus83 · 06/05/2019 06:48

Topshop Joni are even higher waist than Jaime and they have a holding power version that's keeping my c-section pooch in check

Sharpcattlegridheavyhat · 06/05/2019 07:00

Ooh these are all great! I was worried you’d all say I had to get some designer pair that costs the price of a small car in order to get decent denim. Topshop added to the list!

I have some Per Una high waisted jeans from M&S which were soooo comfy and seemed to look good.

Greenvalleymama · 06/05/2019 10:00

I have quite a pouch after three children, but I prefer a mid rise to high rise. Thick-ish denim and darker is usually more flattering than light denim.
You need to have a good trying on session. I get mine from M&S, mid rise, skinny or relaxed skinny which is a bit looser around the ankle. They do loads of colours. The M&S 'Ivy' are fab.

yearinyearout · 06/05/2019 10:03

I've found the slim fit M&S ones pretty good, the have the right amount of stretch in them.

teta · 06/05/2019 10:09

Nydj all the way. They have some on the Tk Maxx website vastly reduced at the moment. I’ve just bought two pairs.
I’ve tried buying so many other types of jeans, only to find they’re not flattering and I don’t feel good in them.

BloomedAgain · 06/05/2019 10:47

Which model nydj do you have @teta

teta · 06/05/2019 11:07

I don’t like the skinny’s. The Marilyn is a pretty good shape but I’ve also ordered the Parker. I have several pairs of the jeans, trousers and leggings and they wash and last really well.

BloomedAgain · 06/05/2019 11:38

I like straight legs rather than skinnies too. Did you take your normal size?

teta · 06/05/2019 11:42

Yes I do although Nydj do say go down a size.

BloomedAgain · 06/05/2019 11:58

Thank you Teta. I'll try them out.

Sharpcattlegridheavyhat · 06/05/2019 18:19

Do you think it’s too risky to just order a 12 Nydj then, if sizes are a bit unpredictable? Wondering about those reductions in TKMaxx now! Yeah this is the thing, mid rise or high rise, greenvalley both feel quite unflattering!

Next do some slim and shape jeans which have a panel inside and cleverly designed bottom that create a slimming effect. I think they are really good for £40.
