Sunblock for scalp

Hi all, I've very fine hair and if I'm out for any length of time on a hot day, my scalp gets burnt. I burn extremely quickly even on an overcast day. Does anyone have a solution? My young DD is going to have the same problem and hats everyday are just not practical.

It has to be a hat.

haverhill · 05/05/2019 18:26

I saw some ‘scalp and parting’ sunblock yesterday; can’t remember the brand though.
I have the same issue and tbh a hat is the best solution.

hugoagogo · 05/05/2019 18:50

here I haven't tried it though, I am a hat wearer.

Hollowvictory · 05/05/2019 18:51

Dh uses the invisible factor 50 mist on his head, ambre solaire. But hat is best.

Baloonphobia · 05/05/2019 19:04

Damn. I'm not an enthusiastic hat wearer. I'm ok with casual ones when I'm out walking etc but I struggle with one for shopping for example.

I easily get burnt along my parting because my hair is fine. I usually dab a tiny bit of factor 50 along it with my finger avoiding the hair as much as possible.

I'm the same. I wear a baseball cap. Nothing else works.

NoBaggyPants · 05/05/2019 19:44

I've tried the Malibu one and Boots used to do one too. Both left me with a greasy parting.

Still looking for a solution too. Once on holiday got burnt so badly I spent the rest of the trip with a glow emitting from my head Grin

PetuniaPetunia · 05/05/2019 19:50

How about a scarf?

hugoagogo · 06/05/2019 12:24

headband thing

managedmis · 06/05/2019 12:59

I get this.

I once had pigtails in as a kid and it was badly burnt on the parting. Crusty head for weeks afterwards

TheLuckyMrsPine · 06/05/2019 14:09

I either pull my hair back so there is no parting, or use the boots soltan hair/scalp mist stuff.

MiniMum97 · 06/05/2019 17:12

I have to wear a hat or headscarf in the summer it my parting will burn. I used to use some parting sunblock but it made my hair look a bit greasy tbh and since I now have seborrheic dermatitis a hat or scarf is safer.

Doobigetta · 06/05/2019 17:18

Yep, my parting gets burnt if I’m not careful. And there’s nothing worse than the subsequent flaking. I wear a hat as a matter of course both on holiday and on sunny summer days here. Don’t give a shit if other people think it looks odd, it’s that or gross flakes. And when I go in the sea on holiday I fold a headscarf up into a big wide hairband to keep covered.

Baloonphobia · 06/05/2019 17:56

Hat shopping for me so Sad. The flaky look is not a good one.
