That won't rub and give me blisters or make me look like I'm about to take my clothes off for an over 50s nudist hike??

I guess they don't exist Grin

There's a whoooole big thread on this OP. About 10 threads down called 'let's see your non-hideous sandals'

thenewaveragebear1983 · 04/05/2019 11:52

I went for some sketchers in the end. I mean, they aren't stunning in a conventional sense. But then they are ludicrously comfortable, and go with my clothes, and have a small wedge heel so my legs look ok in them too.

these ones

They'll probably get flamed for being ugly, but there's a lot worse out there! Even ones for 'normal' feet, so as soon as you throw foot issues into the mix, options are limited!

Langrish · 04/05/2019 11:58

Karimor do some really nice ones, various colours: an American lady stopped me in London to ask what mine were.
Had them 3 years now, supremely comfortable (I walk a LOT). Washing machine, good as new.

FitFlops. I can walk for miles in mine.

cellibabies · 04/05/2019 12:09

Birkenstock gizeh

Shopperami · 04/05/2019 12:10

Langrish/ I really like those. Only thing is I don’t like that sports direct wont do returns.

Do the sizes come up small:large?

thedevilinablackdress · 04/05/2019 12:10

Can we just not with the casual ageism on S&B?
Pleasethankyou.

FiremanKing · 05/05/2019 10:50

Can we just not with the casual ageism on S&B?

Hmm more nonsense.

It’s perfectly ok op to say you don’t want to look like you’re going on an over 50s nudist hike.Smile

thedevilinablackdress · 05/05/2019 11:09

I'll have to disagree. Fed up with being older used as shorthand for bad, unstylish, unattractive.

Battie · 05/05/2019 11:12

The New. They are quite nice.

The devil just outed herself as a 58 year old nudist I think.

applesarerroundandshiny · 05/05/2019 13:08

@FiremanKing The point being made is that there are a lot of posters on here in their 50's or older who have just as much interest in S&B to the posters in their 30's and derogatory comments about age are insulting and not necessary.

@thenewaveragebear1983 I like the Sketchers sandals you've linked to.

AnyoneButAnton · 05/05/2019 13:16

To some extent it does depend on how young and/or fashionable you are. Five years ago pool sliders with socks might have looked either bleeding edge cool or as if you were on day release from sheltered housing. Nowadays, some very basic black orthopaedic Tevas can look very on trend if worn with conviction (even if you’re secretly wearing them because you’re a martyr to your plantar fasciitis).

thenewaveragebear1983 · 05/05/2019 13:42

Apples thanks. They are very comfy, plus if you go to a sketchers store they will actually measure/width fit you as all their shoes are uniform sizes. This was really helpful for me as I ended up a whole size smaller. They are good for wide feet too as they have a little hidden elastic panel (I have one very wide foot). Highly recommended! I might get another pair in a different colour once it's properly summer

FiremanKing · 05/05/2019 14:03

@applesarerroundandshiny

I’m in my fifties. There’s really no need to be offended on my behalf and I absolutely do not find the op’s comment remotely insulting or derogatory.

Bye Felicia. Grin

Madbengalmum · 05/05/2019 14:09

I see the professionally offended have hijacked the thead!

Fitflop have some nice styles.

Langrish · 05/05/2019 20:20

Shopperami

I’d say on the large size. I’m usually an 8 (I know, massive Grin), one foot is longer than the other (now your imagining something from the Hobbit with knuckles dragging along the ground [grin Grin ) and there’s loads of toe room even for my bigger foot.

Langrish · 05/05/2019 20:24

I’m 55. I’m rather gorgeous but my feet have changed beyond recognition since the dainty 30 year old hoofs.

I’m not the least offended that people consider comfort important at my age. It’s a blessed relief to no longer give a flying f**k what people think - one of the many benefits of maturity - and stop cramming my feet into beautiful, hideously crippling foot confections.
Offend away, no problem here. I know how fab I am, even if most people don’t seem to see me any more Grin

Chartreuser · 05/05/2019 20:59

I bought these from Sports Direct this year, they are so comfy. I used to have the ones up thread but these fit me better as can adjust across the top of foot too

Mary1935 · 05/05/2019 22:47

I have those Langrish - 2 things - I didn’t think I was trendy 🙃 and secondly I didn’t know they could be washed either!!!
Thanks

chocolateaddiction · 05/05/2019 22:52

'Hotter' tourist sandal is just what you need x

Langrish · 05/05/2019 22:52

Are we trendy Mary? Well you could knock me down with a feather! Yep, 40 degree quick wash, come up beautifully. No idea if it’s recommended but I live dangerously and it works.
