do you get your lashes tinted?

I’ve never had any beauty treatments but feel like I need all the help I can get at the minute. My lashes are dark with blonde ends,I wear mascara everyday but not on the bottom. Is it worth the faff? How long does it take? Many thanks.

I don't know about lashes but I get my brows tinted. It's so very worth it.

Harrison376 · 04/05/2019 05:54

I’m lucky with my brows. Well I used to think I was unlucky but dark, thick brows are now in fashion!

gettingtherequickly · 04/05/2019 05:56

Yes, brows and lashes about an hour for both (but I have the lashes permed as well).

Harrison376 · 04/05/2019 05:58

Permed you say?! (Picturing each lash as a little ringlet 😄) how often do you get it done?

NowWeAreSuckingDiesel · 04/05/2019 06:18

I did it twice, waste of time. I thought it would save me wearing mascara but I couldn't tell the difference.

Brow tints are great

Carpetburns · 04/05/2019 06:26

I have mine done occasionally. The tint takes approx 7 mins so the whole thing is quick- 10 mins. I'm not sure that would recommend- I still have to wear mascara.

Theseptemberissues · 04/05/2019 07:14

I often have LVL on my lashes and it makes a huge difference. I can get away without mascara for 5-6 weeks

ParkingIInPlainSight · 04/05/2019 07:19

I get lashes and brows tinted. The brow tint only lasts about 4 /5 days, lashses last about 3 weeks. I have v fair lashes, I like it and i look less tired when I’ve had it done.

evilharpy · 04/05/2019 07:24

I do my own. My lashes are very fair at the ends and I look a bit odd if I’m not wearing mascara, and my brows are too fair for my skin tone and hair colour. It’s so easy that I just couldn’t justify paying someone else to do it.

TheWashingMachine · 04/05/2019 07:26

I do my eyebrows and lashes are getting blonder or greyer and it helps, I always go for brown as that blue black is too severe.

Harrison376 · 04/05/2019 07:27

evilharpy how do you do it yourself?

evilharpy · 04/05/2019 11:22

I just buy the kits from Superdrug!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 04/05/2019 13:49

I do brows and lashes at home - I did both this morning. I use Strictly Professional stuff from Amazon, which is what they use in the brow bar I go to for threading. It takes 15 minutes, and I have been doing it since my teens because my mum always did hers!

Harrison376 · 04/05/2019 14:33

Well you learn something every day! Had no clue they did a kit for it in Superdrug, I’ll have a look-thanks!

ShirleyAvenue · 04/05/2019 16:34

I've tried doing it at home as I also have pale ends to my brown lashes. It's fiddly, messy and ineffective.... and takes forever to do top lashes then when all finished bottom lashes. I used an Eyelure kit and you had to apply a cream wait a while then apply a sort of developer. It was all over my skin. I even bought some little paper covers to protect my skin and then got DS(17) to do it for me.
Not quite so messy but it didn't make any noticeable difference either.
Considering having them done professionally - assume I'll need a patch test first?

staceysmith · 04/05/2019 16:36

I have and fair hair
Horrible experience
And made no difference
Also had the curl one. Again horrible experience and results barely noticeable.

iknowimcoming · 04/05/2019 16:40

I have mine lifted and tinted (same as lvl I think) and it's amazing on me as I have long lashes which are blonde on the ends so until they're tinted you can't see them really - people actually notice I've had it done but can't quite work out what the difference is I just look loads better (also I wear glasses if that makes a difference) give it a try!

HundredMilesAnHour · 04/05/2019 16:46

I used to get my lashes tinted. It looked great and I found the process really relaxing. Then I moved countries but found another branch of the place I'd used previously. They were terrible. Sloppy work and they did a really HARD sell on products and packages. They were just unpleasant to visit. I stopped going. I haven't found anywhere local to me that I like. Shame as tinted lashes looked great and really opened up my eyes when I was staggering to the gym at 7am etc. I miss having my lashes done. Sad

Xxalisoncxx · 06/05/2019 04:55

I was paying £15 every 2 weeks to tint my brows and lashes, my daughter tints them now for me with a £7 kit from eBay. It looks better than when I get it done at the salon. I can’t justify paying that kind of money - when I can get it done at home x

Decormad38 · 06/05/2019 05:04

I have done but my lashes seemed to have thinned out with age so no longer worth doing. Mascara a better option now.

madamedeluxe · 06/05/2019 07:52

It’s a waste of money for me. I have done it at home and a couple of times at the salon and it barely looks any different. Maybe it’s ok if you have really long thick lashes already.

Cookit · 06/05/2019 08:07

Huh, I hated it. I have dark lashes anyway but it just made them black, which was good but I found that over the next 6 weeks or however long it lasts there would just be little bits of dye coming off. It looked like when you sleep in your mascara.

BiscuitDrama · 06/05/2019 08:11

I do my own.
Mix the stuff
Put on like thick mascara
Sporadically check a blob hasn’t fallen into my skin
Take it off.

I don’t bother with making barriers on my skin like the instructions say, I just apply it carefully.

iknowimcoming · 29/05/2019 11:04

Just wanted to say I bought a kit following on from this thread and it's soooo easy I was shocked! I will still get the lift/lvl thing done for holiday but tinting is so easy I'll do it myself from now on - thank you! As pp said just bung it on like mascara wait 10 mins and hey presto done, didn't get the stinging I always get at salons either. I'm building up the courage to trying my brows too!

Deathraystare · 29/05/2019 11:23

I used to do my own but due to poor eyesight and getting more klutzy I would not dare. Had it done ages ago in a salon. Might have it done again. Plus my brows though they would ask a 'finders fee' to find them!
