Comfortable but stylish white trainers

I’m looking for some white trainers to wear with dresses, skirts and jeans this summer. I currently have some New Balance 574 which are so comfortable, but I’d like some white leather trainers that will look better with dresses.

I’ve got funny feet, so need trainers with comfortable soles, and padding at back of ankle. I’ve tried on Nike Airforce Ones and liked the way they looked but they came up too high towards my ankle and were not comfortable. Can anyone suggest anything?

Just marking my place as I would like to find exactly what you describe too. I tried Airforce but they looked too 'big' on me as I'm a size 7. I have some pink Lacoste ones and wanted the same in white but they have changed the styles and the white ones came too high at the back of the heel and rubbed. Adidas and nike are all too wide on me. I would prefer a neat looking trainer like a tennis shoe such as Stan Smith but a different brand. Tommy Hillifiger have some nice ones.

They are nice but I’m looking for more of a traditional trainer rather than a brogue shape.

I tried some nice puma ones, the Puma Nubuck Cali Trainer, but again they came up too high on my foot and rubbed against the front of my ankle as I walked.

Have you tried Superga? They are quite neat looking?

Thedarklady · 03/05/2019 20:23

White leather Reebok - stylish and comfortable... they have ortho insoles and padding too!

Ifonlyiweretaller · 03/05/2019 20:59

intersting. I've got Puma Cali's but they irritate the back of my heels as they're a bit high. I tried thesein store yesterday in silver as it was the only colour in my size and they seem very comfy. (and I detest laces so even better.) I have just ordered them online in white. I had to size down to a 4 weirdly, even though i have somewhat wide feet. www.mintvelvet.co.uk/product/lila-white-star-trainer/18990

There is 15% off at moment ( I think code is Summer15) and free postage.

I love my Adidas superstars, they are a design classic and so comfy. They are quite thick though so not good for high summer.

EleanorLavish · 03/05/2019 21:57

Here.

raisinsraisins · 03/05/2019 22:14

Thanks for all the suggestions so far. I’m fed up with ordering trainers online and then having to take them back, so will have to get some trainers that I can try on in a shop!

Thedarklady - The Reebok look like they might be comfortable. Have you got these, and do they look ok with a dress?

I have white Reebok classics, white puma calis (which do come quite high but I find have settled after a couple of wears) and white puma carinas which have a very comfy insole. I can (quite literally) only wear trainers after an accident, so I spend a lot of time looking for the perfect ones! The only problem I have with the classics is that I find the tongue slips to the side, and they end up looking a bit scruffy.

If you're not fussed about having a sports brand, H&M have some great ones that are ideal for wearing with skirts etc

I’ve just ordered these. Also been eying up the Veja trainers.

Nike internationalist in white?

They are comfy, cut a bit lower as don’t look as heavy as some of the others which I think can look off when it’s hot.

White Reebies (Reeboks) Classic

Love these, stylish, classic and so comfortable.

costacoffeecup · 04/05/2019 08:16

I was having this problem last week. I ordered some from Next but they were shaped like converse which make my feet look massive (size6!)

I ordered some superga ones from amazon anyway and they are perfect 👌

These ones but they were only £30 on amazon.

Stan Smiths are the most comfy trainers in the world. I find them very bouncy. And customisable!

There are a ton of cheap ones around, M+S and River Island seem the most popular by far. But you have to be careful as some haven't much arch support so you have to try on.

itstheyearzero · 04/05/2019 10:41

TK Maxx have a lot of nice white trainers in at the moment. I got a lovely pair of Calvin Kleins for under £30. They aren't leather but they are super comfy and look the part.

raisinsraisins · 04/05/2019 10:45

Thanks for all these suggestions. I think I’ll try the Nike Internationalist and the Puma Carina next. I do need some arch support and good padding, so I find that the ones in shops like River Island aren’t comfortable enough for me to do a lot of walking in, although I do like the way they look.

I've gone for Stan Smiths- of all the ones I tried they were the comfiest!.
I got a pair from office which were exclusive- pale pink trims, leopard print insole and rose gold trims to the ends of the laces. Smile

TattiePants · 04/05/2019 21:11

I have a pair from Kurt Geiger that are the comfiest shoes I own. They're not the cheapest but they're still going strong after 3 years. Jigsaw ones are also comfy.

thethoughtfox · 04/05/2019 21:47

I bought Superga after seeing Gwynth Paltrow looking amazing in an airport wearing them. No breaking in and super comfy.

ichbineinstasumer · 04/05/2019 22:03

so, sorry, am I allowed to wear trainer style shoes with skirts / dresses now? This would be great as I can never find smart shoes that I can walk in
