L-lysine - amazing skin side effect

So after a run of hideous cold sores Dr Google told me that l-lysine daily tablet helps to prevent the buggers. I’ve just reached the end of my first bottle (60) so about 2 months of taking it - and (touchwood) cold sores are keeping quiet, but also my skin is the best it has ever been - so soft, smooth and firm. Apparently it encourages collagen production.

I thought I would share! It’s cheap and easy (oh but the tablets are like bloody horse tablets - massive.) worth a go if your skin is problematic maybe.

Ooh this is good to know! I have a tub i bought and never opened. Will have to give it a go!

Plump82 do check the date on the tub as it doesn't work if it's past it's sell by.

I’d love an update if anyone else tried this.

TheTeaFairy · 26/05/2019 08:45

Me too!

I haven't had a cold sore since I started taking L-lysine (I'm on my second bottle) and my skin is pretty good although that might be due to my menopausal state Smile

I bought some banivani ... yet to actually use it though!

My dad started taking L-lysine daily almost 30 years ago after reading about it in some article. He hasn't had a cold sore since.

Justhavingacry · 28/05/2019 04:28

I've just been recommended it for cold sores - but I also usually have acne issues, dry scratchy patches etc and now that I think of it my skins been really calm!

MrsTerryPratchett · 28/05/2019 05:22

I take it sporadically but hadn't noticed the skin thing. The pills are MASSIVE. Why is that?

Frannibananni · 28/05/2019 08:16

I take a double dose whenever I have the first tingling sensation, generally stops them every time..

I buy all my (and family) supplements and vitamins from Lindens. I’m going to try this as many collagen related products contain animal products but these are suitable for vegans and vegetarians.
