Teeth whitening - cheap alternative to trays

So I already have trays made up but my friend has terrible teeth and very little money. Is there any teeth whitening products anyone could recommend for him. I'm tempted to pay for trays as I feel bad for him but there must be other stuff that is cheaper?

Only use once or twice a week.

It’s powerful stuff and if used too much will damage the enamel but used correctly will remove stains and whiten.
