Evening dress

I need a dress for a posh 'do'. It's acceptable to wear a ball gown, slinky dress, cocktail dress, sequin floor length number, anything really. I've seen all of the above at the event before. The men are all in tuxedos and Dj's.

I want to go either in the tulle direction or in my mind a gold sequin floor length dress. Preferably with a v neck neckline. I'm a size 12, 5'8ish.

Trying to avoid black and navy as I always wear those colours! Any ideas?! Budget £100, so might have to find a sale dress. I've been looking on Debenhams website but not feeling too inspired. Where else can I look?

TK Maxx have some lovely discounted posh dresses. I got one for a song and spent a couple of tenners on some alterations to make it fit beautifully.

I never go in TK Maxx but often hear it recommended on MN for all sorts of things. Maybe I need to take a look! Thanks

I mention age because phase eight has some pretty dresses in their sale, but you might think the label too old for you.

ASOS actually do quite good evening dresses

@MummyStruggles that is just the type of thing! But I'd rather not have strappy straps as i would want to wear a bra if possible.

I'm early 30's and thank you for all suggestions so far! Will have a look on ASOS. Does anyone know the quality of Chi Chi London? I've found something I love although they only have it in a size 14, but I've never bought from there before...

I got a great gold sequin gown from Quiz last year, not sure what they’ve got this year though.

This dress is from coast and they're doing 25% off everything at the minute.

MrsFionaCharming they have a champagne coloured one but it's not in the sale. You can get the navy version from Debenhams £20 cheaper. I might have to try some on at the weekend!
