I need a dress, what's this fabric?

I've got a smart summer wedding and DD's graduation, can I get away with one dress?
You know the fabric of the dress that Claire wore to the wedding in Fleabag? It's sort of lace but chunky, looks like cotton?
Navy or blue is my go to colour, have some very pretty navy sandals, midi with at least a short sleeve.
Size 14, tall, good legs, awful middle, small bust.
Any ideas would be gratefully received. Budget under £200.

I haven't seen Fleabag, do you mean broiderie anglais? Like this one from Next www.next.co.uk/G7272s9?vbinfillsinternalnewpdpdesk#331150

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 02/05/2019 15:18

Spelled that wrongly, it should be broderie anglaise. If you search for broderie dress quite a lot comes up.

ClumpingFeet · 02/05/2019 16:09

Thanks BlackAmericano, the Broderie Anglaise is pretty but the fabric I'm thinking of is more substantial.

This cream dress? Crochet?

Yes! Ah crochet, thank you.

Jacquard or guipure, possibly?
It's popular in African fashions - that might be a starting point for your search.

canveyisland · 02/05/2019 16:18

Not crochet. It's a machine made fabric and wouldn't be called that.

FenellaMaxwell · 02/05/2019 16:19

any good?

FenellaMaxwell · 02/05/2019 16:21

Or this one?

ClumpingFeet · 02/05/2019 16:21

@canveyisland, have googled guipure and that's spot on. Thanks so much.

@FenellaMaxwell, that cream one is exactly what I'm looking for but in a wedding suitable colour.

I don't think so - people tend to be quite smart!
