Night out in London - in flats?

What would you wear for a night out in London wearing flat shoes? I'll be coming straight from work which doesn't help. I could get changed into something a bit more "evening appropriate". Night out to me is always in heals (because I'm short and chubby) so I'm a bit stumped what to wear for going out but with flat shoes - probably leopard print pumps but other options are available.

Metallic brogues?
Most Londoners are in flats or flattish shoes. You can always tell the out of towners tottering around in ridiculous heels and nearly tumbling to their death on the tube.

Sorry realise now you were asking about clothes not shoes ...

What are your plans/where are you going? Most places and people in London are fairly causal for drinks, dinner etc. And on a Friday a lot of people will also be coming straight from work. If I go out after work I definitely wouldn’t change.

Agree with PP that it’s usually non-Londoners dressed up and wearing heels. It might depend on exactly where you’re off to though, some places will be smarter than others.

I have some cigarette leg black satin trousers that finish just above my ankle bone that I wear for evenings with flat shoes. I would wear a cami and jacket or a nice blouse / silk shirt

I have a few pairs of "d'Orsay" flats which are a bit dressier if you're wanting something feminine.

For example www.gap.co.uk/gap/dandapos%3Borsay-flats/000845323.html

What would you normally wear? Wear with flats.

sweetheart · 30/04/2019 16:19

It will be dinner, drinks and theatre. I'd usually wear jeans, jumper and healed boots for a theatre trip but this is a bit more of a night out - will be more walking and other people are all wearing flat shoes.

Count F - I wouldn't wear any of my "going out clothes" with flats. To be honest even my day shoes generally have a small heal.

Agree a lot/most London's wear flats/trainers on a night out (ever had to run for a tube in heels?)

GraceMarks · 30/04/2019 19:18

I'm very anti the whole mindset that short women must wear heels, as if shortness is some kind of deficiency that must be corrected. I bet your going out clothes would look just fine with a pair of metallic brogues or some pink suede loafers, if you gave them a try. I'm short and chubby too, but I never wear heels, especially not in London. It just makes you stick out a mile.

CountFosco · 30/04/2019 19:36

Jeans and a jumper? If I was wearing that for a night out I'd wear ankle boots, trainers (I have sequinned flats if I'm feeling fancy), my leopard print loafers or sandals. This is a non-issue.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 30/04/2019 20:02

I'd wear a midi dress and biker jacket or a black mini dress and biker. Or black culottes.

BentBaastard · 30/04/2019 20:07

I wear a jumpsuit with shiny gold ballet flats which are very comfortable.

Heels are not my friend anymore

BabyDarlingDollfaceHoney · 30/04/2019 20:25

If you're more comfortable in heels and normally wear them even for daytime just wear heels. Even if your friends are in flats nobody will bat an eye. Pretty much everywhere in London has people with such diverse styles you could wear almost anything and get away with it.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 30/04/2019 20:28

Jumpsuit a great idea.
