Coconut Oil

I have an almost full jar, as I started (but obviously lost interest in) oil pulling a while ago.

Any recommendations for using it, please, particularly on my face, which needs some kind of miracle!

You can use it as an oil cleanser, just wipe off with a hot flannel or muslin. Or as a face/body moisturiser. Or as a pre-wash hair treatment. I love coconut oil.

I was wondering about using it on my face.
Does it cause blackheads though, do you know?
Google comes up with conflicting views.

No it won't, it should help with blackheads.

OldAndWornOut · 30/04/2019 12:13

Ah thank you.
I've been reading about using a hot flannel on my face, along with an oil, and thinking i'll try it at some point.
No excuse now. Smile

If you use it as a pre-wash hair treatment does it wash out with shampoo?

Unbelievable18 · 30/04/2019 12:19

Yes just use shampoo on your dry head before adding water.

How strange, I genuinely started a thread on coconut oil last night but my phone was playing silly buggers so I stopped!

I am trying it as eye make up remover - worked a treat yesterday on waterproof mascara and eyeliner! I am storing it in airing cupboard to keep it liquid. It's supposed to be very good for your eyelashes too.

My OP was going to be about what to use to apply it - I don't want to use something that will wastefully soak it all up and/or not apply to my face! I used a cotton wool pad yesterday but that was very absorbent.

BuzzPeakWankBobbly · 30/04/2019 12:20

Oh and it got in my eyes too which was a bit annoying - uncomfortable but not painful.

OldAndWornOut · 30/04/2019 12:21

Might make your eyelashes thicker though?

Coconut oil is comodogenic so it's clogs pores. Don't use it as a moisturiser, use it if you double cleanse/take it off with a washcloth

MikeUniformMike · 30/04/2019 12:37

Thanks. I might try it as my scalp has been itchy.

Use it in cooking gives lovely flavour to food.
