Eyebrow help

I have dark brown eyebrows, and since I hit middle age they have started growing a bit wild, which, btw nobody ever warned me about.
If I pluck the long ones, I end up with bare patches, so I have just been trimming them back with a nails scissors, but it doesn't look great.
There's an event I have to go to soon, and I want to get something done with them, but I'm afraid I'll end up with big slug effect brows. I just want something natural and neat looking.
Anybody know what I should do?

Just get them waxed or threaded. Go somewhere on recommendation and ask for just a a tidy up. Ask them to trim them too as not everywhere does.

Ohyesiam · 29/04/2019 22:07

There are pads of you tube tutorials for brows, some crazy slugs, but some good. They show techniques and products to get the effect you want

Leave them for as long as you can stand and then Get them threaded. I go to Superdrug, she tidies them up and trims the ends. Also dark brown and increasingly bushy.

You only get the slug effect if you have them tinted and/or an over zealous application of eyebrow pencil.

Thanks for your replies, I'll avoid the tint then and hope threading will get them under control!

Let them grow for a couple of weeks then go get them threaded. As a pp said, you only get the slug effect if you get them tinted.

Threading is dead cheap too, I go to a walk in place for a fiver.

TantricTwist · 29/04/2019 23:33

Yes get them threaded. I was out of town over Easter and realised my eyebrows desperately needed threading and I couldn't go to my usual person who charges £5. I popped into Superdrug to get something and just like magic there was a lady there who was able to do threading. I took my chances and sat in her chair and she did an amazing job so yes highly recommend Superdrug for threading plus it's realistically priced at £7.

I'd say get them waxed. I used to get mine threaded and though it took ages, hurt like hell and made my eyes stream. I swore I'd never ever get mine waxed, I was convinced if threading made me like that then waxing would be even worse. I couldn't have been more wrong. The lady who does my nails recommended I try it, so I agreed and she done them. I expected to feel like my skin was being burnt off, and for it to be agony, but it was the best thing I've ever done, quicker, virtually painless and I prefer the shape it gives. The first time I thought she'd done a pre wax procedure and the actual waxing was still to come, but she said you're all done within a few minutes. That's how surprised I was by it.
But do which you think best for you.

Jackfruit · 30/04/2019 10:06

I sometimes get mine waxed as well as threaded. Just depends what I feel like. Waxing hurts less. Not everyone finds threading painful though.

NoBaggyPants · 30/04/2019 10:14

@happymummy12345 Threading shouldn't hurt much at all. Could your reaction be because of your expectations? Your description of what you thought waxing would be like does suggest a tendency towards the dramatic.

NoBaggyPants · 30/04/2019 10:15

It doesn't take ages either. A couple of minutes at best!

OVAgroundWOMBlingfree · 30/04/2019 10:16

I can’t bear threading, it feels like I’m being stung. I get mine waxed and shaped for £8 once every 6 weeks.

Jackfruit · 30/04/2019 10:56

It does depend on who’s doing it. At the place I go to there are definitely people I prefer. One woman takes 20 minutes to thread my eyebrows, where as the better ones take 5-10 minutes. For £5 though I can’t complain.

Heretohelpp: seriously, stop promoting your own business. You've filled up S&B with zombie threads that no one wants to read!!
