If you don't wear a leather jacket

What do you wear? Mine is proper battered to the point where DH and DPs are commenting on it and urging me to get rid and buy a new one, which is a bit worrying given I often wear it to work...! It's faux leather as I'm vegetarian. I've just had a quick look online and I'm loathe to pay £40/£50 or more for another fake one, I got this for about £25 in a sale years ago. I wear it loads apart from in the depths of winter when I wear my big wool coat. So it's prompted me to think maybe I should branch out and buy a different type of jacket...but I genuinely don't know what else other people wear of a similar thickness that you can wear with everything, in most weather?

What about a suedette or jersey biker jacket instead of faux leather? I have a black suedette biker I wear with most stuff, a denim jacket that also goes with most things (although I usually wear it over dresses/skirts to avoid doing double denim), and a tan trench coat which I wear with skinny jeans and boots/flats. Any of those take your fancy?
If you'd prefer to stick with a biker style, there are a few faux leather jackets for under £30 on ASOS and probably elsewhere too.

My leather jacket gets more use than just about anything else in my wardrobe. £50 seems pretty reasonable if you look at it on a cost per wear basis.

That is true Almost Human, probably the same here. I am just so stingy when it comes to clothes as we are pretty skint.

Look at it as an investment - or do you have a birthday coming up? Maybe everyone who’s criticising your jacket could club together and buy you the one of your choice?

I have a red "denim" jacket which gets worn a lot in summer

My leather jacket cost a fortune at the time but I use it so much it’s probably one of the best value items of clothing I own

I have a selection of coats and jackets for different weather and occasions. Denim, tweed, trenchcoat, waterproof, army jacket, parka. I've never found the mythical one that does it all, but if that's a leather jacket for you, get a decent one in eBay maybe?

Tu at Sainsburys has some lovely faux leather biker jackets at the £35 mark, I really like this one tuclothing.sainsburys.co.uk/p/Online-Exclusive-Navy-Biker-Jacket/134308318-Navy?searchTerm=:newArrivals&searchProduct= but there are some more unusual colours as well.

You've just missed their 25% off event but if you can hold out there will probably be another one around half term...

Blankscreen · 30/04/2019 10:19

I was going to say if you wear it loads then £50 is actually quite cheap. I'm not sure you'll get another coat for that kind of price which covers asany options.

I wear my denim jackets a lot from spring-autumn.
