Is this wrong for the theme?

So it's a nod to the 20s but not costume. Summer. Outside.

I'm 46 and size 10. Very pale - maybe a fake tan?

It's lovely

BabyDarlingDollfaceHoney · 28/04/2019 18:47

So it's a 20s theme party? I think you could make it work. With long pearls, a headpiece, low t bar heels and curled hair it could look 20s.

SouthWestmom · 28/04/2019 18:48

Thank you! It's in my basket and I could probably find heels and a bag in my wardrobe. Don't want to look all Gatsby

Yes but not a costume party like dress up. Apparently it's 'classy' 😂

I think very pale is perfect for 1920's. I don't think tans were in then.

EducatingArti · 28/04/2019 18:52

It reveals too much shoulder to be truly 20s and I think 20s would be more likely to have a collar.

lablablab · 28/04/2019 19:12

With the right accessories, I think it's perfect! Good find!

SouthWestmom · 28/04/2019 19:14

I might get it and try it on as no one hates it. I get that it's not quite right, just don't want to end up full on flapper😂

It's nice, you just need a couple of long necklaces.
Also my friends & I went to a 20s party & wore matching black headbands with black feathers - maybe that's too 'costume' like though.

tierraJ · 28/04/2019 19:32

Google 'twenties fashion' & 'twenties dress' for more ideas

SouthWestmom · 28/04/2019 19:38

I did but it was all full on flapper /gatsby fancy dress. I get the sense this is a nod to it rather than us all smoking thin cigarettes and Charlestoning. I hope.

It's lovely, although a paler colour would be better. Would look great with long pearls and the right shoes. Maybe a little beaded cape if you can find one, which you could take off later if it felt a bit too fancy dress?

SouthWestmom · 28/04/2019 19:52

It only comes in black and gold or red and gold unfortunately. Black was too harsh for daytime.

Cape is a good idea

Perfect for 20's theme. I can't wear dropped waists, they make me look like a block!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 28/04/2019 20:15

It really is gorgeous and red will be fine. Wish I was still skinny enough to wear such a thing!

EvaHarknessRose · 28/04/2019 20:20

Yeah, don't go costumey just wear the dress if it looks good on.

NW2SW · 28/04/2019 21:01

A subtle nod with your hair might be fun too. Slick side part and a barrette

Oh I love that 💖. We have an Accessorize near work.

Thanks for the recommendation; not the silver one but they had this in stock and it was reduced to £2.09!
