Summer wedding outfit for a fatty!

calilark · 28/04/2019 18:15

Size 22/24, 5'5". Summer wedding. What would you wear? I tend towards darker colours, but I am struggling to find anything which is a) wedding appropriate and b) suitable for likely July heatwave!

I can't wear a higher neck due to big boobs, and I prefer to cover my upper arms. I've tried a few angel sleeved dresses which I liked, but all in very cutesy floral styles which isn't me.

Any suggestions welcome!

I think this is lovely: www.navabi.co.uk/product/floral-tie-waist-satin-shirt-dress-59725/?colorcode=2605

Have a look at Studio 8 - Phase 8's plus size range.

Something like this?

Hi op I see you have big boobs but what does the rest of your body look like, eg hourglass etc. Just so we can get a better idea of what would suit you Smile

I really like the one Daisy has linked to.

Lots of lovely things on LindyBop. I've been wearing 22/24 for a few years, but I'm 5'9". The quality of their frocks is great, and not everything is a perky print swing dress!

Some great suggestions, thanks all! I love that Navabi one @DaisyDando but out of my price range. Really beautiful though.

@Speckledyhen I hadn't even looked at JL, I just assumed they wouldn't have anything for me. That'll learn me!

@AliceCooperslovechild thanks, I had looked at their stuff before but had forgotten the name of the site. Lots of options on there and they have a few graphic/abstract prints which are much more my style that cute florals

@GetOffTheRoof thanks - I had automatically discounted Lindy Bop as purveyors of fancy 50s swing concoctions which are not for me, I shall look again!!

Sorry OP, it is out of my price range too. Pretty though!

I second studio 8. I just got this dress and plan to wear it with a cardi or wrap to cover my flabby arms.

Alicecooperslovechild · 28/04/2019 20:21

John Lewis and Debenhams sell Studio 8 too if you find something and they don't have the right size on their own website.

optimisticpessimist01 · 28/04/2019 20:55

I'd go for something with sleeves (even just top arm sleeves would be ok) but shorter on the leg area, otherwise you risk shortening your body which isn't flattering (trust me I've made the same mistake!) I'd go for a wrap around chest area too, something that shows a tiny bit of cleavage off

RavenLG · 28/04/2019 21:02

I just worse this to a wedding yesterday. It’s dark but very light fabric (I usually run hot but was cold for a little yesterday until a few spirits and dancing kicked in lol) so would be good for summer. I had lots of compliments

@RavenLG LOVE THAT. In the basket, thanks!

Love the kimono. If it doesn't work out def check out John lewsis' selection of studio 8 dresses. They seem to have the best selection.
