I have wanted my hair short for a while and now I feel I ready to have it done. I am booked in for a cut and colour on Thursday afternoon and I want to leave the salon a new me! On a recent thread here someone mentioned their “Spaniel Ears” that is exactly how I feel about my hair, it just hangs shapelessly down. I want a style that is stylishly short rather than trendy, definitely shaped short at the sides but it must be easy to manage so I can wash and go quickly. I also feel that my colour needs to go either lighter or warmer. I have seen these 3 styles that are the sort of look and length that I would love but I am open to ideas if you have any suggestions. I have shown my picture as without it you can’t advise. I will report back with a pic of the new me!

The 3rd is the best, I don't really like longer sides with a short top. I have a v short pixie.
Michelle Williams is my hair idol.

Go for it OP.

I am in the same boat at the moment - just had mine cut from a similar length to a chin length bob and am not loving it.

So have booked in for a pixie/short cut this week.

It's nice to have it short in summer- and can really change the way you feel.

Looking forward to seeing the new you Smile

Mine is like the Michelle Williams one on the left, have had it like this for years now. But you do need to up your game a bit with make up because your face is very much on show. So I have to get busy with shaping in my eyebrows and curling my eyelashes, yes every day! And definitely earrings.

Nothing wrong with going for the chop, and all those styles will look good if they are maintained. I have had every length hairstyle going over the years, and found that short haircuts take lots of styling and need regular cuts. You look like you have thick hair like me, so when a style grows out your hair can go a bit crazy. I think short cuts are much higher maintenance - I could never just roll out of bed looking passable with a short do!

Hi, I said I would add what my closest friend thinks would suit me, she is a fashionista and feels that this heavier on top look is more in, even if the sides are cut very short which is nerve wracking!!

I love that style OP.

It's pretty much what I am going for - although myhair is darker and I'm twice the age of the model.

thewinehasgonetomyhead · 02/05/2019 21:57

How did it go OP?

Hope you're happy with your new hair OP.

NameUserChange · 03/05/2019 19:11

I think OP would suit either option 2 on her original post or the Sharon Stone ones.

NameUserChange · 03/05/2019 19:12

Oh bloody hell, missed the thread! Show us what you got OP!

Craftycorvid · 03/05/2019 19:29

Hope you’re loving your new style, OP. I rocked a crew cut for years - never owned a brush! It was an uncompromising look in my case due to a fat face and double chin. I now have the opposite hair extreme and wear it long enough to make folk tut and declare I’m ‘too old’. Grin

ravenshope · 04/05/2019 09:46

OMG you're going to look amazing with short hair. You have a great hair type and the perfect face for it.
Please share pics!

Haggisfish · 04/05/2019 09:49

Yes, pics please!

Onecutefox · 04/05/2019 09:51

Very short haircuts can add 10 more years.

LarkDescending · 04/05/2019 10:07

Come on OP - show us your new do! I always think Emma Thompson rocks her short styles.

I like this Bob. She is probably in her 50s but it makes her look very youthful. Don't think a short haircut would do the same.

MikeUniformMike · 04/05/2019 14:15

All your original short styles are good. Don't go for a bob. They are boring and ageing.

optimisticpessimist01 · 04/05/2019 14:52

I prefer the second style where the "fringe" area is a touch longer. I much prefer the looks that Foottunnel put on here, much more stylish and modern. The risk with the hair style you chose, is that as it is quite outdated you may end up looking much older

Also, try and do something with your colour, the general colour is okay but add a few grey-toned high lights

Good luck!! I'm sure it'll look fabulous
